Data Center Physical Security Manager, DC Security Amer-Southwest
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

AWS is seeking an exceptional Data Center Security Manager with a proven track record of supporting security programs, strong program and project management experience, comprehensive security program knowledge, and deep expertise in security processes and requirements.

As a Data Center Security Manager at an AWS site, you will own the execution of multiple security disciplines supporting fast-moving operations and manage diverse projects designed to protect personnel, information, and critical infrastructure from insider and external threats. You will also be responsible for managing onsite security forces. You must obsess over internal and external customers and successfully deliver support and services in an environment where priorities shift rapidly. You must be able to operate independently, manage security projects, continuously triage and prioritize accordingly, communicate clearly and compellingly, THINK BIG and outside the box, and deliver exceptional products and service.

Key job responsibilities
This Data Center Security Manager will be responsible for managing physical security operations across the site, developing and maintaining post orders and security procedures, leading incident response and investigations, overseeing security equipment deployment and maintenance, partnering with construction teams throughout project lifecycles, and driving continuous process improvement initiatives while managing vendor relationships.

Key responsibilities include ensuring consistent implementation of all required security policies and procedures, participating in recurring site audits and compliance reviews, and evaluating and testing emerging security technologies to enhance operational effectiveness.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate resilient leadership capabilities, adaptability in fast-paced and dynamic environments, deep expertise in physical security best practices, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.

A day in the life
As a Data Center Security Manager, you will start your day reviewing overnight security operations reports and incident summaries from your onsite security forces, ensuring continuity of operations across your assigned data centers. You'll conduct daily stand-ups with your security team to prioritize tasks, address emerging concerns, and align on critical deliverables for fast-moving operational requirements.

Your mornings typically involve a mix of strategic planning and hands-on execution. You might spend time developing security program enhancements, conducting site walkthroughs to assess physical security controls, or collaborating with cross-functional partners including Facilities, IT Operations, and Regional Leadership to address security gaps or implement new protective measures. You'll manage multiple concurrent projects—from access control system upgrades to security training initiatives—while continuously triaging priorities as business needs shift.

Afternoons often focus on stakeholder engagement and program management. You'll meet with internal customers to understand their security requirements, brief leadership on program status and risk posture, and work with your security forces to ensure operational excellence. You may review security metrics and KPIs, investigate security incidents, or develop solutions to complex security challenges that require creative problem-solving and outside-the-box thinking.

Throughout the day, you'll balance independent decision-making with collaborative problem-solving, managing everything from routine security operations to critical infrastructure protection initiatives. You'll also dedicate time to developing your team, mentoring security specialists, and driving continuous improvement across your security programs.

Your day concludes with planning for the next day's priorities, ensuring your security forces have clear guidance for overnight operations, and documenting progress on key projects. In this role, no two days are exactly alike—you must be comfortable with ambiguity, rapid priority shifts, and the need to deliver exceptional security services while obsessing over both internal and external customer needs.
