Current Need
We are seeking a seasoned Data Center Network Architect to join our Network Services team. This role is responsible for the architecture, design, and technical direction of enterprise data center, campus, remote site, and cloud networking solutions.
The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on networking expertise with strong architectural vision and will provide leadership and guidance to network engineering teams as we design and evolve next-generation network platforms that are secure, scalable, highly available, and aligned with business and clinical strategy.
Position Summary
The Data Center Network Architect is accountable for the end-to-end architecture and design of internal data communications systems, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and cloud-connected environments. This role serves as a subject matter expert across complex, multi-data center and hybrid environments and ensures consistent, resilient network design across hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and corporate locations.
This position partners closely with engineering, operations, security, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver cost-effective, reliable, and future-ready network solutions. Responsibilities include architectural design, technology evaluation, project leadership, risk assessment, and technical governance across enterprise networking initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the architecture, planning, and design of enterprise data center, WAN, LAN, wireless, and hybrid cloud network solutionsDefine and maintain network architecture standards, reference designs, and best practicesProvide technical direction and mentorship to network engineering and operations teamsDesign and support high-availability, load-balanced, multi-tier network environmentArchitect network solutions utilizing industry best practices and healthcare-grade resiliency standardsEvaluate emerging networking and cloud technologies and recommend adoption aligned with roadmap and business needsLead and oversee proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives for new network platforms and capabilitiesPerform risk assessments for network changes and participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) processesOwn vendor engagement, including product evaluations, cost analysis, and solution comparisonsTranslate business, clinical, and application requirements into secure, scalable network designsProvide technical leadership for network-related projects, ensuring alignment with architectural standardsProduce and maintain professional architecture diagrams, technical design documents, and operational standardsCommunicate architectural decisions and technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersContribute to technology roadmaps and long-term network strategy across data center and cloud environmentsCritical Skills & Experience
Enterprise network architecture and design, including requirements definition and solution documentationStrong hands-on experience with Cisco, Aruba, and Meraki platformsExpertise in VLANs, VPNs, IPsec tunnels, and foundational SD-WAN conceptsAdvanced understanding of software-defined networking technologiesExperience designing and supporting high-availability networks in enterprise application environmentsDeep knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)Experience with Azure and GCP networking, including security controls and governanceWorking knowledge of firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco) and load balancers (F5)Ability to analyze requirements and propose innovative improvements to existing network topologies to enhance performance, stability, and resiliencyStrong troubleshooting skills in complex, multi-vendor environmentsAbility to operate effectively under pressure and prioritize work based on incident severityStrong analytical, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to understand systems from the enterprise “big picture” down to low-level technical detail
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Proven project management experience delivering complex network initiatives on time and within budgetExperience with WAN circuit provisioning, edge routing, and telecom deployments (multi-provider experience preferred)Experience configuring and troubleshooting QoS for WAN and LAN environmentsDemonstrated experience with advanced troubleshooting techniques and understanding their impact on production environmentsStrong familiarity with SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, packet captures, and network monitoring toolsWorking knowledge of Windows and UNIX/Linux networking technologiesPreferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field8+ years of experience designing and operating enterprise network environments (LAN, WAN, Wireless, Data Center)Proven experience in network architecture and solution designStrong background in enterprise routing, switching, and network securityCertifications (Preferred)
CCNP, CCDP, or CCIE (Routing & Switching / Data Center) highly preferredMinimum Qualifications
