Data Center Engineer
Overview At Epsilon, we do more than collect and store data. We help some of the world’s biggest brands discover real opportunities inside the data types, delimiters, and decimals. We are looking for a Data Center Engineer to help with running the day-to-day operations of our data center in Oak Brook, Illinois. The person in this position will assist team members with new builds in remote sites, and work with different departments within the company to deploy new environments. This individual will be onsite in the data center and will be responsible for receiving new equipment, planning rack layouts and infrastructure cabling. Helping maintaining a clean and organized data center is a must for us, and we are looking for someone to help us continue to meet those standards. What You’ll Achieve Hardware installation & decommission of enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure. Solve and repair of data center hardware and networking infrastructure. Rack and stack of data center equipment, including but not limited to servers, networking devices, monitoring systems and other equipment. Rack installation including putting racks in place, cabling, power up and handoff of servers to internal provisioning teams. Monitoring of DC environments using monitoring tools Supervising and responding in a ticketing environment that is used and monitoried by multiple internal owners and teams. Documentation of activities and build/modify SOPs. Decommission life cycle of data center hardware. Inventory process, order replacement parts and return failed parts as required. Structured cabling, labelling, and troubleshooting of fiber/copper/telecom cables. System power supplies and cabling installation, fixing and repair. Be able to implement small projects on your own and work with your manager in planning and implementing larger local projects. Show professionalism on your daily data center routine activities. Receive/ship data center equipment as needed. Install, Remove, Troubleshoot hardware in data centers racks without disturbing other hardware and critical infrastructure on site. Maintain asset inventory and update internal applications as needed. Be accessible via cell phone and willing to work onsite as needed. Participate and complete training that aligns with corporate objectives to bridge skill gaps and learn new relevant technologies. Act within Service Level Agreements (SLA) on the tickets assigned to you in your space. Who You Are What you’ll bring with you: 5+ years of professional experience working in a data center environment. Knowledge of data center power types and standards Troubleshooting Experience on servers, networking devices and IT equipment. Knowledge of Dell iDRAC and PowerEdge Servers Inventory management experience, including ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts. Capability to lift at least 75 pounds of weight for rack installation and other activities. Ability to prioritize work based on business needs and urgency. Ability to communicate and write effectively in both verbal and written communication mediums. Experience taking on-call shifts and ability to respond to critical events as needed. Experience raising issues to Sr. onsite staff and management as needed. Base Salary: $62,250 - $103,750 Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon, but not limited to the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location and application employment laws. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
