Job Summary:\rThe CDI Data Analyst will support the CDI department by developing and providing scheduled data packages and completing data reporting needs, as well as maintaining the shared departmental database, for both outpatient and inpatient settings. Works closely with CDI and Coding Leadership to communicate trends identified in their reviews and to make suggestions for continual process improvement in the form of written and verbal reports. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop analytic strategies to assess the quality and safety of care, and associated activities for documentation improvement efforts, provided at WellStar Health System.\rCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions:\r1.\tData Analysis and Reporting:\rA.\tDefines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions\rB.\tAccurately completes timely reports as requested by CDI and Coding Leadership in an executive summary format\rC.\tEnsure and maintain the integrity of data that is utilized for any reports or dashboards\rD.\tProvides other documentation or reports, as requested by the leadership, including but not limited to EPIC, 3M, Coding & CDI Auditing Software, other external data, etc.\rE.\tCommunicates trends identified in CDI and Coding reviews and makes suggestions for continual process improvement to CDI and Coding leadership in the form of written and verbal reports\rF.\tUtilizes Excel or other platforms to build, compiles and distributes scheduled departmental data dashboards\rG.\tCollaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop analytic strategies to assess the quality and safety of care, and associated activities for the Outpatient and Inpatient Documentation Improvement efforts, provided at WellStar Health System\rH.\tOversees and maintains shared data sources (all spreadsheets/templates) for CDI and Coding departments and annually updates/reviews for data and departmental intranet page(s)\rI.\tUtilize reporting functionality in the EPIC/EPSi, 3M 360 Encompass, Vizient and any other data sources\rJ.\tAssists CDI and Coding leadership with ad hoc report creation and completion of data projects for daily operations\rK.\tInterpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables\rL.\tConducts validation of reports and special project tasks to support the CDI/Coding functions and ensure appropriate data is entered, captured and reported for the accuracy and completeness of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and hospital outcomes\rM.\tBuild systems to transform raw data into actionable business insights\r2.\tProcess Improvement / Project Management:\rA.\tPlans and oversees data related projects and timelines, considering the outlined scope and the overall departmental priorities and vision\rB.\tTakes initiative to identify and apply best practices for data analytics relevant to CDI and Coding in both outpatient and inpatient settings\rC.\tPartners with CDI, Coding, CI and IT Connect teams and makes suggestions for technology improvements, optimization and efficiencies for operational data\rD.\tServes on work teams as needed for operational and technical projects to provide CDI point of view\rE.\tRepresents the CDI Department on all CDI-related IT projects, sitting on project teams, coordinating, and performing testing, and communicating issues and resolution\rF.\tActs as a super user for CDI and Coding analytics tools; provide education to internal and external stakeholders\rG.\tParticipates in monthly, quarterly, and other CDI and Coding application testing, including reviewing documentation, preparing test plans, testing, validating, and preparing training materials and communications for the Outpatient and Inpatient CDI/Coding stakeholder departments\rH.\tAvailable to act as a technology training resource for WellStar CDI and Coding team members, mentoring them on relevant software and applications, IT related issues, and other questions, as needed\rI.\tWorks on miscellaneous CDI and Coding IT initiatives and projects, as needed\r3.\tCustomer Support:\rA.\tUnderstands business needs and objectives, and has the flexibility to adjust to shifting departmental priorities\rB.\tIn collaboration with Leadership, presents trends and report metrics relevant for CDI and Coding\rC.\tShows eagerness towards understanding customer needs to assess for data applicability\rD.\tProvides data interpretation services for key customers\rPerforms other duties as assigned\rComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.\rRequired Minimum Education:Bachelors Health Science or Bachelors Health Administration or Bachelors Statistics or Bachelors Other\rRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):\rAll certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.\rAdditional License(s) and Certification(s):\rCertified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) from AHIMA within 1 Year Required or\rRegistered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) from AHIMA within 1 Year Required or\rRegistered Health Information Technician (RHIT) from AHIMA within 1 Year Required\rRequired Minimum Experience:\rMinimum 3 years Relevant data reporting and analytics experience, including working in Tableau environment and/or Microsoft PowerBI Preferred and\rProficiency in CDI or coding, including chart review experience Preferred\rRequired Minimum Skills:\rAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills High\rMust exercise strong logical reasoning skills and business intelligence High\rExceptional written and verbal communication skills High\rAnalytical skills and strong organizational abilities High\rComfortable applying data analysis and reporting concepts High\rAttention to detail High\rProblem-solving aptitude High\rTime management skills High\rAbility to collaborate with other departments to achieve departmental and organizational goals High\rAbility to review data from multiple sources and aggregate into meaningful, actionable information for use within and outside of the CDI and Coding departments High\rFamiliarity with Epic, 3M 360 Encompass and Vizient Low\rUnderstanding of diagnosis related groups (DRGs), Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) & Risk-Adjustment Factor (RAF) Medium\rDatabase management experience Medium\rBackground in healthcare regulations and coding guidelines Medium\rFamiliarity with standard healthcare-related metrics Low
