We are seeking a Data Analyst to join our extraordinary department. This multi-faceted position reports to the programming manager and collaborates with team members to do all things data. Create forms, codes and other objects for data collection. Identify inconsistencies to maintain data integrity. Connect to APIs to automate data flows. Inform our clinics with data visualizations.
Our team has the vital task of keeping the Electronic Medical Record [EMR] application accessible to our diverse users. This responsibility includes using the application’s UI to write data and building reports and API connections to read data. Your work will support the doctors, nurses and therapists who provide UVA students with excellent care.
The primary areas of focus include:
Create operational reports with Power BI and a SQL Server data source to get useful information into your colleagues’ handsMaintain the EMR application to ensure it meets your colleagues’ needsWork on an Agile team to gather requirements, contribute to user stories and write acceptance criteria to keep our team focused and high performingRequired Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related experience in this disciplineExperience: Two years. Relevant experience considered in lieu of a degreeResourceful and collaborativeExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to write complex SQL queries, views and stored proceduresAbility to create Power BI reports with standard analytic functionsAbility to learn an enterprise EMR application and databaseAbility to interface with APIs, preferably using PythonAbility to use tools such as Visual Studio Code, SQL Server Management Studio, Github, Copilot, Jira and MS Office products.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with information systems in a healthcare environment and/or degree in healthcare informatics is preferred.Licensure: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate a plus!CPHIMs certification or obtaining such certification within 1 year of hire is preferred.About the Position:
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $80,000-$95,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. It is eligible for partially remote work at the discretion of the supervisor. The successful candidate will pass both a background check and a drug screen. This is an exempt level, benefited position at 40 hours per week. Employees’ benefits package highlights include:
