More about this role
The BI Factory Lead is a senior leadership role in Global Data & Analytics organization. This person will head a centralized “BI Factory”, a hub for business intelligence development, user experience (UX) design, self-service analytics governance, and conversational analytics. The BI Factory Lead partners closely with functional Data & Analytics teams (e.g. Sales, Finance, Supply Chain) and regional business units to accelerate BI solution delivery, ensuring faster time-to-insight and enterprise-wide consistency. This role defines enterprise standards, processes, and governance for BI products to guarantee high-quality, scalable, and cost-efficient outcomes. Additionally, this leader drives innovation by incorporating AI-powered analytics and modern visualization frameworks, keeping the organization at the forefront of BI technology trends. The role requires a balance of strategic vision and hands-on leadership to maximize the value of BI across the company.
What you need to know about this position - key responsibilities:
Lead the BI Factory Team: Oversee a centralized BI development team that delivers end-to-end BI solutions, from data visualization development to UX design and self-service analytics support, for multiple regions and business domains. Ensure the BI Factory provides robust dashboard/report development, intuitive design, and advisory services in conversational BI (chatbot/query-based analytics).Demand Management & Delivery Coordination: Manage and prioritize BI development requests across numerous business units and regions. Work closely with global Data & Analytics “tower” leads (Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, etc.) and regional stakeholders to align on project priorities, resource allocation, and timelines, thereby accelerating delivery of insights and avoiding bottlenecks.Standards, Quality & Governance: Define and enforce standards, processes, and governance for all BI products (dashboards, reports, data models). Establish best practices for development and documentation in tools like Power BI and Tableau to ensure consistency and reliability. Governance efforts should maintain data accuracy and one source of truth, improving trust in BI outputs while eliminating redundant analytics efforts to save cost.Data Architecture Collaboration: Collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to design optimal data pipelines, models, and semantic layers for analytics. Ensure that data is organized into well-defined, reusable semantic models (enterprise metrics layer) that Power BI, Tableau, and other tools can leverage, providing consistent metrics and definitions across the organization for better governance and data trust.UX Design & Data Storytelling: Oversee BI UX/UI design practices to make analytics content easy to understand and visually compelling. Introduce guidelines for dashboard layout, navigation, and data storytelling that reduce complexity and “tell a story” with data. The goal is to improve user adoption of BI tools – recognizing that a great user experience and clear insights will drive higher engagement and faster decision-making.Conversational Analytics & Innovation: Support the deployment of next-generation BI experiences, including AI-driven and conversational analytics (e.g. natural language query interfaces and chatbots for data). Pilot and implement tools that allow users to “ask” questions in plain language and receive insights, democratizing data access;. Stay updated on emerging BI trends (augmented analytics, automated insights, etc.) and introduce innovations that add business value.Federated Development Governance: Provide governance and mentorship to federated BI developers embedded within various business units. Even as some analytics development is decentralized, ensure these teams follow enterprise standards for data definitions, design, and security. This federated operating model requires strong central leadership and clear communication of standards to maintain consistency. Convene regular touchpoints or a community of practice with distributed BI developers to share best practices and updates.Performance Tracking & Value Measurement: Track the performance and utilization of BI Factory services. Define clear KPIs and metrics to measure the BI Factory’s impact, such as number of projects delivered, adoption rates of BI products, user satisfaction, and business value generated. Regularly report on benefits (e.g. time saved through self-service, reduction in duplicate reports, improvements in decision-making quality) and use these insights to continuously improve the BI function. What extra ingredients you will bring:
Data & Analytics Leadership: 10+ years in Data & Analytics roles, with proven experience designing and delivering BI solutions. Significant exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) analytics stack (e.g. BigQuery and Cloud Storage) is required for understanding our cloud environment.BI Tool Expertise: Deep hands-on knowledge of Power BI and Tableau (or similar BI tools). This includes data modeling and shaping, writing complex DAX and SQL calculations, building advanced dashboards, and optimizing performance. Certification or extensive experience in these tools is highly desirable.Team Leadership in Global Environments: Demonstrated success in leading BI development teams or data engineering teams, especially in global or multi-region settings. Experience managing a “Center of Excellence” or centralized BI/Analytics team is a plus. The candidate should be comfortable coordinating across time zones and cultures.Methodologies & Frameworks: Strong knowledge of Agile project management for BI (sprints, backlog management), as well as data governance practices and semantic modeling concepts (designing enterprise data models/metrics layers). Familiarity with integrating AI/ML capabilities into BI (such as predictive analytics, NLP in BI tools) is important to drive innovation.Stakeholder Management: Excellent stakeholder management skills with a track record of partnering with both business leaders and technical teams. Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and vice versa, ensuring alignment and clear expectations.Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and presentation abilities. Comfortable briefing C-level executives and non-technical stakeholders on analytics initiatives, as well as guiding technical teams. Able to produce clear documentation, standards, and training materials for BI users.Job specific requirements:
Strategic Mindset: Ability to think strategically about the role of BI in driving business value, and to set a vision for enterprise analytics (e.g. moving towards more self-service, AI-driven insights, etc.).Leadership Presence: Gravitas and influence to lead cross-functional teams and evangelize BI best practices across the organization. The BI Factory Lead should inspire confidence at all levels, from development teams to executive sponsors.Collaboration & Influence: Highly collaborative, with talent for bringing diverse teams together (business, IT, engineering) to achieve common goals. Adept at negotiating priorities and gaining buy-in for standards and new initiatives.Communication & Storytelling: Excellent listener and communicator who can convey complex data concepts in simple terms. Skilled in data storytelling – helping the business understand not just what the numbers are, but why they matter. Capable of coaching others to improve their data storytelling as well.Results-Oriented: A focus on outcomes and value creation through BI. Proactive in identifying opportunities where analytics can solve problems or unlock opportunities. Continuously measures and articulates the business impact of BI initiatives, ensuring the team is always working on what matters most.Mondelez International is attentive to the future of work and values the well-being of our people, seeking to provide the best experiences.
