Cyber Security Architect

The System Engineering department is responsible for the design of new products and services, and managing software and hardware development. Within this department, the specialists from the Cyber ​​Engineering team are responsible for cyber security.

About your future job

The advanced radar and combat management systems being developed at Thales are becoming increasingly complex. They consist of hardware and software components that communicate with each other. As a cybersecurity architect, you are responsible for all cyber aspects within the architecture, which enable Thales to develop reliable, secure, accreditable and economically attractive solutions that meet customer needs.

In addition to developing and maintaining the architecture of the current products, you are also involved in research into new ways to make our products even more resilient against cyber threats.

As a Cybersecurity Architect you work closely with architects from other disciplines and you are the interface between the cyber department and other (engineering) departments. You are also able to convince internal and external stakeholders of the chosen approach.

The main tasks are:

• Developing and maintaining the security architecture of a product and/or composition of multiple products

• Sparring partner for non-security architects

• Monitoring the balance between project (one-off) and product (reusability)

We are looking for a new colleague who:

• has a completed WO or HBO education in a technical field;

• has at least five years of relevant work experience;

• is familiar with architecture and system engineering principles;

• has extensive current knowledge in the field of cybersecurity, preferably several years of experience in specifying cybersecurity solutions;

• has good analytical and conceptual skills;

• has good communication skills and shows initiative and can talk easily with different people;

• is a team player and enjoys working in multidisciplinary teams;

• has a good command of the English language, both oral and written.

In addition, the following qualifications weigh positively in the selection:

• in possession of ISC2, ISACA, SANS or other relevant certification(s);

• familiar with relevant standards (NIST, IT-Grundschutz, ISO2700x)

• worked in an organization in which complex technical products are developed;

• worked in defense and/or in the cybersecurity industry;

• experience within a Naval context;

• familiar with accreditation processes;

• good command of the German language (oral and/or written).
