CVOR Surgical Technologist Per Diem
**Description** PeaceHealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a Per Diem, Variable position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $44.97 – $66.97. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. **This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.** **Job Summary** This position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient. In Cardiac Surgery (CVOR), uses a variety of specialized equipment to assist the physician in the performance of invasive procedures resulting in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac and peripheral vascular disease. **Essential Functions** + Arranges and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team. + Understands and applies the principles of asepsis. Establishes and maintains sterile field and assures team maintains sterile environment. + Assists in preparation and moving of patients. + Assists physician in performing invasive procedures. + Scrubs in for handling guide wires, catheter, flushing catheters, and other scrub duties as assigned. + Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover. + Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images. + Performs pre-procedural patient care activities. + Monitors and records patient’s condition and procedures’ progress. Retrieves and reviews patient data. + Operates and maintains clinical equipment. + Participates in all safety initiatives. + Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives. + Performs other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** **Education** + Accredited Secondary Education Program Required: Surgical Technology **Experience** + Minimum of 2 years required: CVOR surgical technologist experience and + Minimum of 2 years required: Previous experience working in a hospital setting **Credentials** + Required: Upon Hire Surgical Technician - Washington Surgical Technologist Registration -State Licensure and + Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support and + Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist **Skills** + Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs (Required) + Proficient computer and keyboarding skills required (Required) + Complete understanding of vascular and related organ anatomy (Required) + Ability to interact within a variable environment good team dynamics (Required) + Ability to multi-task and self-lead problem solving skills (Required) + Ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility (Required) **Working Conditions** Lifting + Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH). + Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures. + Ability to move around area with occasional sitting. + Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping. + Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs. + Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force. Environmental Conditions + Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles. + Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. + Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting. Mental/Visual + Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
