Job Summary:CV & Cardiothoracic IP PA 3 (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) works within the specified department or Services will function as an integral part of the healthcare team. Serves various roles including working directly alongside faculty and staff, providing care to the entire spectrum of patient acuity levels, working semi-autonomously, and serving as a provider to initiate appropriate care, including laboratory studies and/or imaging as indicated, at the front end of a patient's visit. The responsibilities of these APP's include providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients of an inclusive congenital heart service line. These will include but are not limited to, all components of the congenital heart program; surgical (endovascular vein), cardiac catheterization, thoracic, EP, outpatient clinics. This APP will also provide the following post & intra-operative procedures: Post-Op - chest tube insertation (removal & maintenance), arterial line placement, intracardiac line removal/maintenance, wound VAC placement/maintenance, postop VAD care. Intra-Op - chest opening to pericardium, 1st/2nd surgical assistant, chest closures.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Nurse Practitioner - Master's Degree in Nursing. Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body or currently licensed as an advanced practice nurse in the state of GA by the Georgia Board of Nursing Advanced Certification in the specialized area if required. Current American Heart Association, Basic Life Support(BLS). Must be fully credentialed by the credentialing office to work. OR Physician's Assistant - Graduated from an accredited Physician's Assistant program. Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Licensure to practice medicine through the GA Composite Medical Board Must maintain status as a certified PA, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education and re-cert. Advanced Certification in the specialized area if required. Current American Heart Association, Basic Life Support(BLS). Must be fully credentialed by the credentialing office to work.
