The Customs & Trade Operations plays a pivotal role in managing our international shipments, ensuring compliance with import and export regulations, and maintaining smooth and efficient operations within the global supply chain. This person possesses strong organizational skills, knowledge of international trade regulations, and the ability to effectively communicate with both internal teams and external partners.
Documentation, Compliance & Safety:
• Prepare and review all necessary import and export documents, including customs forms, shipping manifests, and certificates of origin.
• Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, import/export laws, and trade sanctions.
• Coordinate with customs authorities and regulatory agencies to facilitate the clearance of goods.
• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate and timely information.
• Promote safety by maintaining compliance with all relevant safety standards and legal requirements
Shipment Coordination:
• Coordinate the shipment of goods, including freight, booking cargo space, and arranging transportation.
• Track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any transportation-related issues.
• Manage the logistics of multiple shipments simultaneously
Tariff Classification and Valuation:
• Familiarity with Mercosur customs regulations and procedures, including import and export documentation requirements.
• Review and support the classification of products for import/export purposes based on tariff schedules and ensure accurate valuation of goods for customs purposes.
• Practical knowledge of Incoterms to define responsibilities and risks in international trade operations.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
• Identify and assess potential risks associated with international trade, customs compliance, and transportation, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensuring compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements related to international trade is a key responsibility.
• Knowledge of Free Trade Agreement and its implications.
Cost Management:
• Monitor and control import/export costs, including duties, taxes, tariffs, and transportation expenses.
• Practical knowledge of Incoterms (International Commercial Terms) to define responsibilities and risks in international trade operations.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
Business Development and Project Coordination:
• Actively participate in and coordinate strategic business development projects within the region.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in international business, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
Proven experience in import and export operations, customs compliance, and international trade.
Knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and tariff classifications.
Experience with import and export processes in Brazil and Argentina.
Certification in AEO and/or CTPAT standards is advantageous.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in using logistics and supply chain management software.
Detail-oriented and highly organized.
Fluent in both Portuguese and English, with the ability to effectively communicate in both languages. Proficiency in Spanish would be beneficial.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing requirements
