Customs Origin and Solicitation Junior Analyst
Job Description

Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Philippines office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role

The Junior Analyst – Customs Origin and Solicitation will support key customs processes for GM North America imports by ensuring timely and accurate data analysis, document solicitation, and compliance with U.S. Customs regulations. This position is crucial in maintaining proper country of origin reporting, securing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) benefits (such as USMCA), and supporting customs programs that ensure GM’s efficient border operations and cost savings.

This role involves close coordination with global suppliers, U.S. business partners, brokers, and GM stakeholders to ensure smooth processing of customs requirements, particularly in origin determination and document solicitation.

What You’ll Do

Customs Origin:

Conduct origin analysis and documentation for imported goods in alignment with U.S. regulatory requirements and GM internal procedures.Support compliance with Free Trade Agreements, including USMCA, and contribute to duty avoidance initiatives.Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and lead discussions related to customs origin issues.Maintain desk procedures and support high-complexity processes when backup is required.

Solicitation and Document Management:

Manage solicitation and tracking of customs documentation from global suppliers.Review and audit documents to ensure compliance with customs requirements (e.g., AALA, CCA).Communicate effectively with suppliers to resolve documentation errors; escalate non-responsiveness as needed.Train suppliers on document solicitation systems and ensure their continued compliance.

Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare reports and analysis for customs import activities, including daily, weekly, and monthly workload updates.Support data-driven decision-making through simple data analysis and interpretation.Assist in identifying process inefficiencies and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.Produce schedules, reports, and documentation for internal use or audit support.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s Degree in Customs Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.Familiarity with North American customs policies and regulations (Title 19, Free Trade Agreements).Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with Access, Power BI, or KNIME is an advantage.Strong systems aptitude; willingness to learn GM’s customs systems and reporting tools
