Job Title: Customs Classification Specialist
Position Type: Contract (6 months+)
Location: 100% remote (must work EST hours)
Description:
Classification & Trade Compliance (65%)
•\tAssign Harmonized Tariff Numbers, Schedule Bs, ECCNs, and other data requirements for products.
•\tMonitor and evaluate changes in tariff/duty programs (HTS, Schedule B, ECCN, CVD/ADD, Section 301/232).
•\tCoordinate qualification of goods and manage SPI-related certificates and entry audits.
•\tSupport post-entry activities including Post Summary Corrections, Protests, Prior Disclosures, and Voluntary Tenders.
•\tMaintain product dictionary and ensure accurate descriptions, classifications, country of origin, ECCNs, and FTA indicators.
•\tExecute audits related to imports, exports, classification, and FTAs.
•\tMonitor export control activity and manage licenses/permits.
•\tSupport processes related to drawback or other duty/tax claims.
•\tMay assist with CTPAT or other trade compliance functions.
Skills & Qualifications:
Certification Preference: CCS or Customs Broker License (not required)Education & Experience:Candidates should have a strong working knowledge and direct experience in import/export activities and Customhouse brokerage. A practical understanding of CBP compliance best practices and regulations is essential. Candidates must be detail-oriented, capable of independent decision-making, and able to troubleshoot complex issues. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI) is required.Education: Undergraduate degree in supply chain logistics/distribution, finance, accounting, international business, or a related field, or a minimum of 6 years of practical experience in customs and international trade.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Newark, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
