We have an immediate career opportunity for a qualified Customs Brokerage Supervisor. The Supervisor verifies tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise exported/imported to/from foreign destinations. The supervisor examines various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements. The supervisor ensures compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products. The supervisor may contact customs officials to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays.
Key Responsibilities:Manages and coordinates customs clearance activities in the customs house brokerage or gateway environment in an, efficient and cost-effective mannerEnsures compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products being shipped through all DHL facilitiesEstablishes, monitors, and revises policies, procedures and service standards for customs clearance operationsEnsures all policies and procedures are consistently administeredResponsible for meeting key performance indicators targets for a given productSupervises a staff of approximately 30 with two direct reports. This person will be responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing subordinate staffAssigns work, sets completion dates, reviews work, and manages performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processesSkills & Qualifications:Complete understanding and wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in function or business areaAn advanced understanding of specific aspects of work supervised and practical application to problems and situations ordinarily encounteredKnows and effectively uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures relative to quality and productivity improvements, training, budgeting and cost control, and progressive techniques in area of specializationGenerally understands basic supervisory approaches for work direction, motivation, and disciplinary actionTypically requires BS/BA and 3-5 years’ experience in related field, including at least one year of supervisory experienceProfessional certification required in some areasEmployee Benefits & Incentives
