Customer Success Engineer - Automation (Application Integration)
**Introduction** As a Customer Success Engineer for Automation (Application Integration), your role is to lead the successful deployment and adoption of IBM’s AI-powered integration and automation solutions within large, complex enterprise accounts. You work closely with customers to design, implement, and optimize solutions that reduce manual work, improve system reliability, and enable proactive, data-driven operations. You collaborate with sales, technical leaders and delivery teams to identify opportunities, drive use-case realization, and ensure customers achieve tangible business outcomes. With strong technical expertise and a growth mindset, you help clients modernize their application integration landscape, accelerate time-to-value, and fully leverage IBM’s Automation portfolio. Supported by industry-leading onboarding and continuous learning, you grow your technical and consultative skills in a highly collaborative environment, co-creating with customers and internal teams to deliver solutions that increase productivity, improve performance, and enable innovation at scale. **Your role and responsibilities** With deep business knowledge and technical skills, Customer Success Engineer are trusted advisors. Credible and respected confidantes that clients depend on to ensure their Enterprise License Agreements and Cloud deployments are fully adopted, and driving the business value they were invested in to achieve. A natural at inspiring, influencing and motivating others, you'll work closely with colleagues and customers to identify compelling business use cases for expansion projects that lead to further investment. Once bought into, you will build technically viable deployment roadmaps for the near- to long-term, collaborating with stakeholders to maximize their software licensing adoption and deliver exceptional value. Your primary responsibilities will include: * Understanding Client's Challenge and Building Trust: Understand clients' primary challenges and establish yourself as a trusted technical expert for their migration, deployment, and adoption of licensed software. * C-Suite Stakeholder Relationship Building: Identify and nurture relationships with C-Suite stakeholders, encouraging them to act based on business requirements and the value provided by IBM's solutions. * Facilitating Use-Case Exploration and Business Framing: Lead and facilitate use-case exploration and business framing workshops, create client value realization models, including ROI and business value assessments. * Customer Advisory Role: Actively work as the customer's trusted advisor throughout all phases of onboarding, deployment and renewal, which includes executive briefings and health status checks. * Client Strategy Development: Create strategic plans for clients, focusing on infrastructure, applications, and automation solutions. * IBM Automation Solution Design: Define practical IBM Automation solutions that enhance existing technology stacks. * Proof of Concept Delivery: Provide proof of concepts and simplifying technical concepts to ensure client comprehension. * Building Credibility and Trust: Establish credibility and trust with clients, which is essential for closing complex technology deals. **Required technical and professional expertise** * Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise software, customer success, pre-sales, or technical consulting roles, demonstrating high energy, resilience, initiative, and the ability to lead through ambiguity to deliver consistent client value. * Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of an organization, from technical teams and architects to CIOs and business leaders, and to facilitate healthy, outcome-driven debates. * Excellent problem-solving capability, able to navigate data, people, and processes to identify root causes, design solutions, and present recommendations that drive further investment and broader solution adoption. * Proven ability to translate business goals and transformation objectives into technical architectures and integration solutions, providing strategic guidance on automation and application integration roadmaps. * Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, with a consistent record of building trust, aligning diverse stakeholders, and driving decision-making in complex enterprise environments. **Preferred technical and professional experience** * Strong understanding of the Automation market and experience positioning automation and integration solutions as a trusted advisor, with the ability to design outcome-driven solutions for complex enterprise clients. * Prior exposure to IBM’s technology portfolio and services, with the ability to leverage this knowledge (or rapidly upskill) to guide clients in modernization, application integration, and adoption of automation solutions across industries. * Experience working with large Enterprise accounts, including solution design for complex environments, navigating multiple stakeholders, and driving value realization at scale.
