Customer Service Representative I
Sentara Health is currently seeking a full-time remote Customer Service Rep I!

Must be available to start on 11/10/2025.

Position Status: Full-time, permanent (40 hours/week)

​Standard Working Hours: Must be able to work between the hours of 8:00AM to 4:30PM

Position Location: This is a remote position and you must be located near Sentara Independence (Virginia Beach, VA). You must be able to travel on-site for training, for connectivity issues, or as needed for meetings, etc.

Job responsibilities:

Responsible for all areas of customer service as it pertains to research and resolution of telephone inquiries from members or patients. Primarily responsible for handling incoming calls to effectively address issues related to either member eligibility, plan prescription benefits, and claim payment issues or patient services needs such as updating billing information, establishing payment plans, resolving payment inquiries, or patient scheduling.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED

Certification/Licensure:

No specific certification or licensure requirements

Experience:

Minimum 2 years Customer Service experience REQUIRED

Previous data entry experience REQUIRED

Experience in a high volume call center preferred

Medical terminology preferred.

Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and third party payers.

One year of experience with insurance verification/referral processing preferred.

Knowledge of EPIC preferred.

Proficient in use of computers and excellent organizational skills.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay rate for Full Time employment is:$16.35 - $23.08. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
