As a Customer Service Representative, you will work as part of a supportive team to be the face of U-Haul company’s exceptional service and ensuring that customers get all the help they need on their journeys by inspecting and maintaining equipment. As well as assisting customers, using up-to-date technology to dispatch and return equipment. This position offers on-the-job education.

Customer Service Representative Responsibilities:
+ Assist customers inside and outside a U-Haul center with U-Haul products and services.
+ Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory.
+ Move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers.
+ Clean and inspect equipment on the lot including checking fluid levels.
+ Answer questions and educate customers regarding products and services.
+ Prepare rental invoices and accept equipment returned from rental.
+ Install hitches and trailer wiring.
+ Fill propane (certification offered through U-Haul upon employment)
+ Drive a forklift (certification offered through U-Haul upon employment)
+ Other duties as assigned
+ Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
Customer Service Representative Minimum Qualifications:
+ Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record
+ High school diploma or equivalent
Work Environment:
The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts or machines, fumes or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.
Physical Demands:
The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of remaining stationary, moving around indoors and outdoors, positioning oneself to reach objects at varying heights and moving equipment weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
Part-Time Facility Support & Customer Service Representative
Hours: 15-20 hours per week
Schedule: Flexible, including weekdays and occasional weekends
Position Overview
This role combines facility housekeeping duties with light customer service responsibilities to support daily operations at a U-Haul facility. The associate ensures the property is clean, safe, organized, and customer-ready while also assisting customers with basic rental, storage, and retail needs. This is a hands-on, active position that requires working independently, managing physical tasks, and providing friendly service in a fast-paced environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Facility & Housekeeping Duties
• Perform daily walk-arounds to ensure storage units, hallways, restrooms, offices, elevators, and common areas are clean, safe, and organized.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, wipe surfaces, and clean storage units before and after customer use.
• Prepare vacant storage units for new rentals and maintain overall facility appearance.
• Remove trash and debris from the building and parking lot areas.
• Assist with light facility maintenance and upkeep as needed.
• Conduct basic safety checks, including verifying unit locks and identifying delinquent units.
• Track and maintain cleaning supply inventory and request replenishment when needed.
Customer Service & Operations Support
• Greet and assist customers in person with basic questions about rentals, storage, and moving supplies.
• Support rental transactions and inventory management using smartphone-based technology.
• Assist with equipment upkeep, including cleaning trucks and trailers and maintaining lot organization.
• Help with basic operational tasks such as vehicle inspections, equipment staging, and general lot cleanliness.
• Provide occasional retail support by assisting with moving supplies and processing payments.
Job Requirements
• Experience: No prior experience required; training is provided.
• Physical Ability: Must be able to stand, walk, lift (up to approximately 50 lbs), and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Skills:
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Comfortable using smartphone technology
• Friendly, professional communication skills
• License: Valid driver’s license with a good driving record (preferred for CSR-related duties).
Working Conditions
• Combination of indoor and outdoor work within a storage and rental facility.
• Active, physical role involving cleaning equipment, vehicles, and occasional exposure to fumes or machinery.
• Part-time schedule designed to support facility needs, typically 15–20 hours per week.
