Customer Quality Engineer, Experienced

As the Customer Quality Engineer, Experienced, you will be responsible for customer quality issues. This includes investigation and problem solving, field-service representative engagement, and ensuring that customer requirements are met. You will be the link between Labs, Sales, Manufacturing Operations, and Technical Service Representatives in the field. You will be the primary contact for customer claims, warranty, validation, and post warranty product claims and will lead Root-Cause Analysis (RCA).

You will report onsite to the Quality Control Manager in Lafayette, IN.

Responsibilities:

Investigate and resolve Customer quality and line issues ensuring all such items are correctly registered and tracked into the CAIR.

Apply analytical reasoning and RCA, follow procedures for claims management, and maintain positive customer relationships.

Assist teams: manufacturing, engineering, laboratory, warehouses, planning, and field personnel (TSRs); provide corrective action for non-conformities, ensuring identification of the root cause(s), and implementation of corrective actions to avoid repeat errors.

Maintain the Quality Standard of PPG Industries and promote the understanding of the Customer Quality Goals throughout the organization.

Work with the Account Manager to ensure specific requirements are understood and fully deployed by conducting regular internal auditing.

Create plans and strategies to reduce gaps that affect quality and implement best practices.

Monitor customer satisfaction through the use of the VOC tool and the development of strategies and action plans to improve the indicator.

Lead quality improvement activities to increase customer satisfaction of product quality and delivery.

Update documentation based on results of RCA and share lessons learned.

Respond to non-conformities through customer portals together with the Coordination of Quality Management Systems appropriately.

Qualifications:

BA/BS degree in Chemistry or Engineering.

At least 3 years Quality experience in a Technical, Manufacturing, or Chemical Plant environment such as for Automotive, Industrial, or Packaging; or similar paint and coatings quality. Specific knowledge of solvents and primers is useful but not required.

Customer engagement experience in Automotive, Industrial, Packaging, or similar.

Problem-solving experience including: 8DS, 5 WHYs, or similar investigative methods

Hands-on knowledge of core tools: IATF/TS16949, ISO9001, FMEA; Quality Control planning, Six Sigma, or similar.

Comfortable delivering updates and reports to customers.

Limited travel up to 15%
