The Patient Services Navigator plays a critical role in delivering warm, thoughtful service to patients, families, and visitors by acting as a concierge, advocate, and guide. Position Details:
+ Pay Rate: $24/hour
+ Contract Length: 3 months
+ Shift: Wednesday – Sunday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
+ Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Responsibilities:
+ Serve as a non-clinical liaison to patients and families throughout their hospital experience
+ Provide compassionate support and comfort to children and their families
+ Greet and assist patients, visitors, and families with locating services and navigating the hospital
+ Confirm appointments, offer verbal/written directions, and escort guests as needed
+ Schedule and manage physician appointments and support care coordination
+ Provide information on transportation options, including campus shuttles
+ Communicate patient and guest concerns to appropriate departments
+ Respond empathetically to emotional or high-stress situations
+ Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate cultural sensitivity
+ Provide concierge-level assistance, including hotel and community resource information
+ Oversee and guide 5 or more volunteers
+ Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Job Requirements:
+ High school diploma or GED
+ 1 year in a healthcare setting OR
+ Completion of a navigation certification program OR
+ 2 years in a customer service role in hospitality, public relations, banking, or concierge services
+ Preferred: Experience working with children or families in a care setting
Skills:
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
+ Compassionate demeanor and child-friendly communication
+ Ability to stay calm under pressure and use sound judgment
+ Basic computer proficiency (Windows, Word, Excel)
+ Working knowledge of EPIC or similar patient database systems
+ Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare navigation
+ Ability to link patients with diagnostic and follow-up services
+ Familiarity with conflict resolution and professional boundaries
+ Must be able to adjust communication styles to a wide range of age groups
