Job Summary Job Summary

Custodial Duties Routine Cleaning: Provide light daily cleaning—such as sweeping, spot-mopping, basic surface and restroom tidying—and empty trash and recycling as needed, serving as daytime support before the main janitor completes full evening cleaning. Maintenance & Repairs: Perform minor building maintenance and repairs; report major repair needs to Operations Manager. Electrical: ¦ Replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes ¦ Change ballasts in light fixtures ¦ Repair or replace electrical outlet covers ¦ Pull wire through channels to outlets Plumbing: ¦ Fix minor leaks in faucets and toilets ¦ Unclog drains or toilets ¦ Make basic adjustments to water valves Carpentry and general repairs: ¦ Assemble and repair furniture ¦ Hang bulletin boards, pictures, clocks, and fixtures ¦ Adjust doors that are not closing properly ¦ Perform minor patching on floors and walls ¦ Repair or replace damaged floorboards or tiles Other building maintenance: ¦ Perform minor repairs on flooring and carpeting, such as patching and waxing ¦ Install or adjust window blinds and curtains ¦ Change air filters and clean vents ¦ Use hand and power tools to accomplish maintenance tasks Event Support: Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school events, activities, and meetings. Safety & Security: Secure buildings and grounds at the end of the shift, including locking doors and windows and activating alarm systems; identify and report safety hazards. On-call to respond to after-hours alarms and provide building access as needed. : Pick up litter and debris from school grounds, outdoor lunch area, outdoor backpack area, minor landscaping, and walkways. Backup Van Shuttle Driver Duties: Safe Transportation: Safely operate a school passenger van to transport students and staff over assigned routes or for special activities, adhering to established time schedules and all traffic laws.

License/Certification First Aid, AED and age-appropriate CPR certification Valid California Driver License Background check (fingerprint and criminal history clearance)

Comments and Other Information Education High school diploma or equivalent. Experience 1. Previous custodial or janitorial experience required. Prior professional driving experience is desirable. 2. Experience in a not-for-profit environment and/or independent school is preferred. Physical and Psychological Demands 1. Must be: a. physically and mentally capable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously and be capable of consistently functioning well in a fast-paced environment b. work independently with little supervision c. able to occasionally life a minimum of 50-75 pounds d. able to give and take criticism and direction well. 2. Must enjoy working collegially and congenially with faculty/staff, parents and children in a school that highly values community. 3. Must exhibit the following qualities to be a successful team player: a. trustworthiness and the ability to trust other team members and supervisor b. ability to communicate in a timely and professional manner to address conflicts c. strong evidence of commitment and loyalty to the School d. strong evidence of ownership and accountability for work e. consistent attention to detail and results.
