Job Summary

Summary<br>The primary purpose of your job position is to perform all patient exams with the highest degree of skill, fully utilizing all radiographic, fluoroscopic, and CAT scan equipment and protocol to consistently obtain images which demonstrate diagnostic levels of radiographic density, contrast, and resolution. You will respond to on-demand requests for service in a timely manner.<br><br>Does this position require Patient Care?<br>Yes<br><br>Essential Functions<br>-Operates radiographic and fluoroscopic fixed equipment. <br>
-Operates the standard C-Arm under both sterile and non sterile conditions. <br>
-Operates and familiar with techniques for portable x-ray unit. <br>
-Understanding of EPIC. <br>
-Has had training & experience starting IV's. <br>
-Produces the expected levels of production (volume) at reasonable speeds and on schedule. <br>
-Experience with MRI scanning. <br>
-Repeat rate at 6% or below. <br>
-Properly utilizes all radiation protection/shielding procedures for patients and staff. <br>
-Properly attends to the physical safety of patients and staff. <br>
-Assures all areas are clean and orderly and supplies are maintained for all exams and procedures. <br>
-Provides all services to patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner. <br>
-Utilizes departmental and hospital information systems as necessary for patient care. <br>
-Changes incorrect exams to correct exams in EPIC. <br>
-Puts in a help desk ticket when needed. <br>
-Communicates with teleradiology when necessary. <br>
-Adheres to two patient identifiers with all patients. <br>
-Familiar with the appropriate form if injured on the job. <br>
-Familiar with Occurrence Worksheet Forms regarding a patient incident (extravasations, allergic reaction, patient fall etc.). <br>
-Checks PACs after completing exams. <br>
-Prints films/CDs when requested. <br>
-Adheres to sterile procedures in the OR. <br>
-Exercises initiative and actively participates in the reception area, film library, and transport functions. <br>
-Improves performance through education. <br>
-Maintains required continuing education credits. <br>
-Provides patient care appropriately to the following age groups: Neonate - Birth to 1 month, Infant - 1 month to 1 year, Early Childhood - 1 year to 5 years, Late Childhood - 8 years to 12 years, Adolescence - 13 years to 17 years, Young Adult - 18 years to 25 years, Adult - 26 years to 54 years, Sr. <br>
-Adult - 55 years to 64 years, and Geriatric – 64 years +. <br>
-Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms of the above identified patients. <br>
-Recognizes patients' psychological development and modifies approaches for the above identified patients. <br>
-Recognizes potential lifestyle changes resulting from illness that will interfere with the discharge plan. <br>
-Develops plan accordingly. <br>
-Identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs. <br>
-Evaluates availability of support system for the above defined patients. <br>
-Assesses patients for signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect and refers to appropriate personnel and/or community agency. <br>
-Interview/communication techniques are age-appropriate. <br>

Licenses and Credentials
Registered Technologist [ARRT-R] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required Radiologic Technologist [State License] - Generic - HR Only required

Experience
A Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) and completion of a two year AMA approved Radiologic Technology program and one year of clinical training in CAT scanning techniques in a JCAHO approved facility. 2-3 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice in Massachusetts.
- Must possess registration by the ART in Radiography and be registry eligible for ART registration in CAT scanning.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English Language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely fashion.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, patients, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Must posses leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the program goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc. of the Radiology Department.
- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of the department.
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
- Must be a minimum of twenty three (23) years of age.
