Summary The CT Scan Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the CT department and throughout the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and by the identification band on in-patients + Use schedule to maximum efficiency, maintain patient flow, and schedule. add-ons + Produce high quality CT scans through proper positioning and technique. + Proficiently use scanners to include sending to Nighthawk, 3DR, and VRAD. + Follow all protocols and procedures to meet department standards + Work closely with the radiology nurse and the radiologist when performing biopsy and drainage procedures + Utilize assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions + Follow department, NRC, and State regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure "ALARA" + Review patient’s chart for confirmation of physician's orders and follow written and/or verbal protocols and instructions + Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the appropriate lead + Utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, and/or credits + Educate patient, and family when necessary, regarding the exam, treatment, and outcome + Perform visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel + Follow ACR Guidelines to maintain ACR Accreditation. + Perform other duties as assigned Summary of Other Job Duties and Expectations + Work as a team to continuously improve work quality + Adhere to the Service Excellence Standards and Expectations at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center + Exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers + Exhibit courteous communication skills and an ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in performance of job duties + Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect to others in adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting positive work and customer environments + Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services + Present self in a positive manner as reflected by personal attire and etiquette + Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when it is necessary to ensure patient care Supervisory Responsibilities Reports to: Radiology Supervisor, though may also be assigned work from the Radiologist, the Administrative Director of Radiology, the Clinical Lead, and the Senior Technologist Supervises: None Responsibilities: N/A Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology Preferred Education: N/A Experience: Previous experience as a registered technologist is required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Applicants must be ARRT (CT) registered within 18 months. Must be BLS certified.
