CSC Tier 3 Senior Virtualization & Microsoft Engineer

**What’s The Role**
The **Senior Specialist Engineer – Microsoft and Virtualization** is responsible for the advanced support, management, and administration of Windows Server and Virtualization infrastructure within the CSC-IaaS domain. This includes services supporting both internal stakeholders and B2B customers across the Liberty Latin America and Caribbean regions.
As a **Tier 3 escalation point** , this role handles complex incidents and service requests advanced by Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams. The engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of cloud and virtualized environments, while also contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and mentoring junior technical staff, and entails working on-call and overtime where applicable.
**What You'll Do**
**Core Technical Responsibilities**
+ Administer and manage virtualization platforms (VMware), including virtual machines, clusters, vSAN, and infrastructure optimization.
+ Manage Microsoft services including Exchange Server, WSUS, Failover Clusters, SharePoint, and Active Directory.
+ Perform installations, upgrades, and reconfigurations of Windows Server operating systems.
+ Monitor platform performance, lead alarms, and optimize server resource usage.
+ Implement preventive and evolutionary maintenance tasks on managed systems.
+ Apply vendor-recommended protocols and ensure compliance with customer security policies and standards.
+ Lead infrastructure changes, including patching and updates, with client authorization.
+ Create and maintain Windows Group Policies, server templates, and process documentation.
+ Develop automation scripts and tools using PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.
+ Recommend improvements to server platforms, including security, scalability, and functionality.
**Service Management & Customer Support**
+ Respond to customer service requests and ensure compliance with agreed service levels (ANS).
+ Diagnose and resolve service failures and platform issues.
+ Handle escalations internally and externally, ensuring timely resolution.
+ Review and accept servers/services for management.
+ Follow up and close cases escalated by clients.
+ Participate in on-call rotations to ensure platform availability.
**Documentation & Reporting**
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation.
+ Track and report service metrics and performance indicators.
+ Define and maintain policies for updates and change management.
**Quality Management System (QMS) Responsibilities**
+ Understand and comply with applicable processes, procedures, manuals, and instructions.
+ Participate in QMS-related training and awareness activities.
+ Maintain QMS documentation accurately and completely.
+ Propose improvements to processes and report any issues affecting system performance or customer satisfaction.
**Information Security Responsibilities**
+ Adhere to corporate information security policies and associated guidelines.
+ Protect and maintain the confidentiality of company and customer information.
+ Use only authorized and licensed software and tools.
+ Comply with laws and regulations related to intellectual property and personal data protection.
+ Classify and label information appropriately (e.g., Public, Internal Use, High Sensitivity).
+ Report any security breaches or suspicious activities.
+ Follow policies for responsible use of resources (email, internet, mobile devices, passwords, access control).
**Knowledge & Experience**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or a related field.
+ Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) – Windows Server.
+ Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Certification.
+ VMware Certified Professional (vSphere 6.7 or 7.0).
+ ITIL Foundation Certification (v3 or v4).
+ 5+ years of experience in Windows Server administration and OS management.
+ 3+ years of experience managing virtualized environments using VMware and/or Hyper-V.
+ 2+ years of experience working within ITIL-based service management frameworks.
+ Experience supporting internal and B2B customers in a multi-tenant environment.
+ Proficient in managing:
+ Windows Server (2012, 2012 R2, 2016, 2019)
+ Microsoft Exchange Server (2013, 2016, O365)
+ WSUS, DNS, DHCP, File Services
+ Active Directory, Failover Clusters
+ VMware 6.0 or higher, including vSAN and multitenant cluster management
+ Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python).
+ Solid understanding of hardware capacity planning, storage technologies (SAN/vSAN/iSCSI), and virtualization monitoring tools.
+ Bilingual support capabilities (Spanish and English).
+ Familiarity with Remote Desktop Services, Microsoft Licensing.
+ Basic knowledge of SQL Server and SharePoint Server.
+ Experience with physical server hardware (rack, blade servers).
+ Certifications or training in:
+ vSAN, vROPS, NSX
+ Linux or Windows OS administration
+ Automation tools (PowerCLI, Ansible)
