As a Paramedic, you will provide immediate medical treatment to patients presenting with various critical injuries, illnesses and concerns. In this role, fast thinking and processing are essential, as every second counts in an emergency. Your tireless efforts help improve outcomes and make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers. 

A caregiver in this position works 6:30am to 6:30pm on a 4-week rotation. Requirements include every other weekend and holiday.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Provide immediate medical treatment to critically ill or injured patients throughout the interfacility or scene transport process.  Navigate an ambulance to respond to emergency calls.  Assess the nature and extent of the illness or injury, administer appropriate emergency medical care, communicate with medical personnel at the hospital, report/record observations and follow directives until report and hand-off at hospital.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Certification as an EMT-P (Paramedic) by the State of OhioCurrent certification as an EMT-P in the State of Ohio or National Registry CertificationAmerican Heart Association (AHA) basic life support (BLS) upon hireAHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hireAHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) upon hireUnited States Passport upon hireNational Incident Management System (NIMS) IS100, IS 200 within 6 months of hireAHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hireInternational Trauma Life Support (ITLS) provider, and ITLS advanced within 6 months of hireFlight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) within 24 months of hireMinimum of three years of EMT-P experience Experience with airway management devices

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Associate degreePrior IV skills, management of medication and blood administration

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform in limited quarters, ground and air transport modes and in all types of terrain and weather conditions. Frequent bending, twisting, climbing steps or ladders, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.Medium Work - exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
