Summary

The Critical Care/Flight Paramedic provides advanced medical care in both clinical and aeromedical environments, supporting patient stabilization, treatment, and evacuation. This role demands a highly skilled and experienced paramedic capable of performing complex procedures under pressure, maintaining accurate documentation, and adapting to dynamic operational needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, current certifications, and a commitment to excellence in patient care and mission readiness.

Duties and Responsibilities

Deliver advanced medical care in both clinical settings and during aeromedical evacuation missions.

Accurately document and maintain patient medical records.

Perform therapeutic procedures including injections, immunizations, infection management, and EKGs.

Conduct patient assessments and formulate diagnoses.

Establish intravenous (IV) and intraosseous (IO) access.

Perform venous blood draws and endotracheal intubation.

Administer medications in accordance with protocols.

Interpret 3-lead and 12-lead electrocardiograms (EKGs).

Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology and medication usage.

Operate within the scope of practice defined by licensure.

Promote health and provide preventative care services.

Participate in aeromedical evacuation operations as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least 2 years of recent experience as a Critical Care/Flight Paramedic (fixed-wing and/or rotor-wing).

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed Paramedic.

Active, unrestricted U.S. state Paramedic license with no pending disciplinary actions.

Ability to meet credentialing requirements.

Required Certifications

Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C)

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

One of the following trauma certifications:

Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)

International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)

Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC)

Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC)

All certifications must be current.

Additional Requirements

Familiarity with standard medical practices and procedures.

Demonstrated ability to plan and achieve goals using sound clinical judgment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common office equipment.

Flexibility to adapt to changing operational needs, including shift adjustments.

Minimum of 6 months recent clinical experience in patient care within the past year.

Valid U.S. driver’s license and passport (with at least 6 months before expiration).

Strong communication skills in spoken and written English.

Must pass a background check and/or obtain a Secret security clearance as required by the contract.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge in:

Assessment and diagnosis, including body recovery and wound repair (anesthesia and suturing).

Treatment modalities such as chest tube thoracotomy, venous cut-down access, blood typing/cross-matching, and transfusion protocols.

Sick call procedures, basic radiological analysis, and medical inventory management.

National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

Must be medically and dentally cleared per KBR guidelines or client directives.

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

Work is primarily performed in office or clinical environments; air travel is required.
