The New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is the largest organization in the United States dedicated to preventing and addressing homelessness. In partnership with other City agencies and nonprofit organizations, DHS works to prevent homelessness before it begins, reduce street homelessness, provide temporary shelter, and connect individuals and families to stable housing all with a focus on accountability, empathy, and equity.
DHS is committed to continuous improvement and employs innovative strategies to deliver high-quality services that support a swift transition from shelter to self-sufficiency. The agency manages hundreds of facilities and operates with a large team as well as a several billion-dollar budget to meet the diverse needs of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness.
The Street Homeless Solutions (SHS) Division runs a continuum of programs that help move street homeless clients from the street and into transitional and permanent housing. The programs include Outreach, Safe Haven, Stabilization Beds and Drop-In programs. The program contracts outreach providers in New York City in every borough and within the subway system. SHS leads a 24/7/365 Street Homelessness Solutions - Joint Command Center (JCC) that conducts interagency rapid outreach deployment from a central location using precision mapping, client information, and rapid response to incoming notifications. This initiative partners existing homeless response and prevention programs with a series of new initiatives that have been designed to better identify, engage, and transition homeless New Yorkers to appropriate services and, ultimately, permanent housing.
The Department of Homeless Services is recruiting three (3) Public Health Senior Consultants, to function as a Crisis Coordination Manager who will:
- Oversee and manage the client placement process, ensuring individuals are matched to the most appropriate bed
- Review and approve placement decisions, ensuring they align with program policies and principles.
- Oversee the JCC Operations which include the service desk, Joint Operation Initiative, 311 Service Request Operation, Expanded Subway Initiative and other basic operations and initiatives
- Support the unit in prioritizing daily outreach activities
- Supervise Community Coordinators and Community Associates.
- Follow up to ensure completion of activity and assignment logs and end of the shift reports
- Responsible for liaising with the Program Administrators
- Receive incoming referrals, triaging clients, review vacancies and placement of clients
- Coordinate and participate in interagency joint operations with partnering city agencies which include, DSNY, CDOT, Parks Department, and DOB
- Perform field supervision of staff
- Offer engagements, perform assessments, participate in analysis of biopsychosocial factors
- Respond to Special Projects in the field; develop comprehensive case summaries.
- Participate in Interdisciplinary Case Management Meetings
- Collaborative and coordinate resources for outreach special initiatives

Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree issued after completion of a four-year course in an accredited college or university and a master's degree from an accredited school of social work, plus:
1. Six (6) years of full-time, paid, satisfactory experience in social work including (a) two (2) years of casework experience in a health, medical or psychiatric care agency adhering to acceptable standards; and (b) four (4) years in a supervisory, consultative, or administrative capacity or in teaching in an accredited school of social work, with at least one (1) year in a health, medical or psychiatric care agency; or
2. A satisfactory equivalent.

Salary Min: $ 82,950.00
Salary Max: $ 95,392.00
