Provides support to the criminal background check (CBC) coordinator, CBC provider and the Company’s end users. Communicate CBC procedures to stores and DC management. Provides guidance to ensure employment eligibility meets company and legal guidelines/laws, as well as adjudicate decisional background checks to ensure it meet our company guidelines and adhere to local, state and federal laws. This position is an integral part of controlling employment risks. Works with the Director and Talent Acquisitions Manager with complex CBC issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide assistance with the company-wide criminal background check (CBC) program
After careful review of CBC make informed recommendations and decisions with regards to pre-employment and current employment eligibility based on company guidelines and state, federal, and/or local laws
Collaborate with all levels of management on employment status cases based on criminal activity of current team member. Provides guidance to ensure matters are handled within company and regulatory guidelines.
Documents each case based on results.
Orders pre-employment CBC requests for corporate and regional positions
Works closely with Loss Prevention department and management to research and answer questions, as well as provide information so informed employment decisions regarding criminal background check results.
Issue post adverse action letters to team members in a key carrier position when terminating employment
Acts as liaison for management to communicate, research and follow-up with vendor and applicants to check on the status of an outstanding CBC
Possess specialized knowledge of all CBC processes and state law updates
Responsible for reviewing the Five Day Report provided by the CBC vendor and making the final grade on a CBC report
Responsible for reviewing the OREILLY Delayed Case report and sending out a communication email to all stores with regards to CBCs which have been processing for more than 5 business days
SKILLS/EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES
REQUIRED
High school diploma or equivalent
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
The ability to manage different projects simultaneously while maintaining high attention to detail and meeting deadlines
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
Superior communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to deliver high level of customer service and satisfaction in a high call volume environment
Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
Experience working in a team environment while hitting individual deadlines
Must have good evaluation skills needed to respond to appeals, keeping both business needs and legal consideration in mind
High level of confidentiality and prior experience handling sensitive and/or confidential employee information
Must be able to use own initiative and work independently as needed
DESIRED
Associate degree or equivalent
Prior HR related experience
Basic knowledge of local, state and federal employment and CBC laws
