Credit Risk Professional (Card)

Description

Citizens Bank is seeking a highly analytical and results-driven professional to join our Credit Risk team supporting the Credit Card business. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for delivering analysis and recommendations across the customer lifecycle of the Card business. You’ll leverage exceptional analytical skills to uncover actionable insights, influence strategic decisions, and enhance portfolio performance. This role offers visibility across the organization and opportunities to shape the future of our lending strategy. Critical ingredients for success in the role include a demonstrated track record of ownership, intellectual curiosity, and a results-driven attitude to identify and deliver enhancements that lead to portfolio growth and profitability.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain credit strategies using advanced analytical tools (R, Python, SAS) to optimize risk/reward tradeoffs.

• Monitor origination and portfolio performance, diagnose deviations from expectations, and recommend strategic adjustments.

• Partner cross-functionally to implement and refine decision rules, underwriting policies, and lifecycle strategies.

• Apply intellectual curiosity and behavioral insight to identify opportunities for credit optimization and innovation.

• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Science, Math, Finance, Engineering), or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

• 2+ years of experience applying quantitative skills in a business setting; lending or credit card experience preferred.

• 2+ years of hands-on experience utilizing statistical programming languages – R, Python, or SAS.

• Experience extracting and manipulating data with SQL.

• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and communicate insights to senior leadership.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable the candidate to build support from peers and senior management.

• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) and storytelling with data.

• Track record of ownership, high degree of intellectual curiosity, and a results-driven attitude.

• Exceptional problem-solving acumen with ability to think strategically.
