As a Credit Originator within our Real Estate Banking team, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the new loan origination process for commercial real estate clients. You will be part of a dynamic team that provides extensive industry knowledge, local expertise, and a comprehensive set of financial products and services to a diverse client base. This role offers the opportunity to work with a range of clients, from corporations and municipalities to real estate investors and not-for-profit organizations. You will be responsible for evaluating new loan opportunities, structuring complex loans, coordinating the credit approval process, and ensuring compliance with established underwriting standards and guidelines. This role provides an opportunity to apply your strong working knowledge of the commercial real estate industry and banking rules and regulations, and to lead a team to deliver accurate, timely results.
Job Responsibilities:
Evaluate new secured loan opportunities and drive the client's loan origination processStructure complex loans and coordinate the credit approval process in conjunction with risk team membersPresent proposed loan transactions to senior management, articulating the reasoning behind recommended credit decisionsPrepare and review underwriting and investment committee memorandumsPrepare and negotiate term sheets, negotiate loan documentation, and coordinate the real estate closing process, including reviewing due diligenceOversee compliance with established underwriting standards and guidelines, credit approval requirements, and other policies and procedures associated with new loan originationsServe as the primary client contact throughout the credit originations process as well as ongoing credit managementActively engage in credit portfolio reviews with the risk team and ongoing portfolio monitoring of existing loansPartner with bankers on proactive approaches to pitch additional credit solutionsAssist with training and development of junior staff member, serving as a coach to develop their credit analysis and structuring skills
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
Five plus years of commercial banking lending experience, including extensive credit, structuring, closing, and loan documentation experienceExcellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly express and support opinions in a confident and diplomatic manner, listen thoughtfully to the input and critiques of managers and team members, and effectively articulate positions to senior managementStrong analytical and business writing skills
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
Completion of a major corporate banking credit training programKnowledge of JPMorgan Chase or similar bank policies and proceduresSuperior interpersonal skills to interact with clients, counsel, product partners, and senior managementSignificant accounting and finance knowledge, as well as strong knowledge of real estate fundamentals and concepts
