** Work Arrangement/Location: This is a hybrid position requiring in-office work three days every week. Ideally the position will be based in M&T's Bridgeport, CT office but it may be in an M&T office in Buffalo, NY, Baltimore, MD, NY, NY, Paramus, NJ, or Washington, DC.
There is potential for a remote work arrangement, within the United States, IF the final candidate is not near one of the above locations. Overview:The Strategic Initiatives Expert works closely with senior managers within the division/enterprise to manage key initiatives, including supporting critical Division/Enterprise cross-functional projects related to strategic objectives of the Bank, improving risk management and ensuring efficiency and sustainability of core processes and positioning the Bank to meet evolving regulatory expectations. Leads certain aspects of and/or support design, planning and implementation for time-sensitive, critical, programs and/or projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support end-to-end credit model development projects for Capital, ACL, Loan Origination, Underwriting, Fee Income and related modeling disciplinesLead planning and implementing of new products/models, programs and initiatives to achieve short and long-term business objectives and strategic outcomes. Support development of project roadmaps and plans.Coordinate with data scientists, model developers, risk teams, and IT to drive project success within or ahead of development timeline. Develop contingency plans and proactively mitigate risks affecting project timelinesUtilize tools like JIRA, Confluence, Git, and Agile methodologies to manage development sprints and project progress. Maintain and track project deliverables, risks, and dependencies through Kanban/Scrum (or equivalent) boards and Gantt chartsDirect critical Bank-wide or divisional projects that may include planning, design and analysis of results, develop comprehensive documentation to align with regulatory expectations as needed, analysis of complex data sets, or analysis/optimization of data structures.Assist with defining strategy of new initiatives within the division/enterprise. May serve as subject matter expert to drive requirements, development, and production of complex ad-hoc and automated departmental analyses and reports, including workflow, project and strategic analysis and trend reporting.Synthesize large volumes of qualitative and quantitative information for analysis and decision-making. Enhance documentation practices for model development, testing, and deployment.Collaborate with model risk management governance and compliance teams to track regulatory deadlines, quarterly attestation and documentation processManage expectations of senior stakeholders by providing clear, data-driven updates and risk assessmentsMaintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:

Master’s Degree and 7+ years’ professional experience, including management experience5+ years in project management within credit model development, financial services, or risk analyticsStrong knowledge of model lifecycle management, version control, and automation tools.3+ years of proven experience managing complex projects using Jira, Confluence, Git or related applicationsStrong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall project management methodologies. Experience with visualization tools (e.g. Tableau), data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake), and data integration toolsExperience deploying and managing models into production environmentFamiliarity with SAS, Python, R, SQL (not required to code but to understand modeling workflows).Certifications: PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent preferredKnowledge of industry regulations such as SR 11-7, Basel, CECL, IFRS 9, and CCAR/DFAST#LI-RS1
