Position Summary
The Credit & Collections Specialist is responsible for managing customer accounts to ensure timely payment while maintaining positive customer relationships. This role involves resolving credit and collection issues, reviewing account status and credit availability, documenting customer interactions, and supporting accurate financial reporting. The specialist works closely with internal teams and customers to resolve discrepancies, investigate payment issues, and support order processing decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Contact customers via telephone and written correspondence to resolve credit and/or collection issues while maintaining strong customer relationshipsInitiate collection activities on delinquent accounts, including telephone calls and form lettersReview customer orders and assess current account status to determine credit availabilityRelease or hold customer orders based on established credit policiesAccept customer payments and/or establish payment arrangements as appropriateDocument all customer inquiries and interactions to ensure accurate and complete credit recordsInvestigate and resolve duplicate billing claimsResearch lost, misapplied, or unidentified payments and initiate refunds for overpayments when applicableAssist in resolving customer issues related to non-receipt of product, pricing discrepancies, and returns informationGenerate and submit periodic reports related to credit, collections, and account status as assigned by the supervisorPerform additional duties and special projects as requiredRequired Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred2+ years of experience in credit/collections or accounts receivableWorking knowledge of credit and collection practices and general accounting principlesAbility to communicate professionally and tactfully with customers in challenging situationsStrong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entryProficiency with ERP systems and accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applicationsJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Irvine, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
