Role Overview
This role sits within a small, high-performing Risk team and is responsible for the end-to-end administration of loans, securities, and contingent exposures. The position plays a critical role in ensuring strong credit governance, data integrity, and control across the credit lifecycle within a regulated banking environment.
The successful candidate will bring a strong technical grounding in credit administration, trade finance, and risk controls, with the ability to operate in a detail-oriented, control-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Governance & Approval Controls
Validate approved credit terms (limits, tenor, pricing, collateral, covenants) against policy and delegated authority Maintain approval registers and reconcile approved vs booked exposures Track conditions precedent/subsequent and prevent unauthorised drawdowns Log, monitor, and escalate policy exceptions and breachesDocumentation & Legal Coordination
Prepare facility documentation aligned with approved credit terms Coordinate legal review where required, particularly for security enforceability Ensure proper execution, perfection, and registration of security Maintain document custody and version controlCollateral & Security Management
Maintain collateral records, valuations, and eligibility criteria Monitor coverage ratios and trigger revaluations where required Identify and escalate enforceability risks or documentation gapsLimit Monitoring & Exposure Control
Maintain obligor and group structures with full exposure aggregation Monitor utilisation across limits (obligor, sector, country) Escalate breaches or near-breaches in line with policyCovenant Monitoring
Track financial covenants and testing schedules Perform covenant calculations and monitor compliance Manage waivers, breaches, and remediation processesTrade Finance & Contingent Risk Oversight
Administer LCs, guarantees, and SBLCs, ensuring appropriate collateral/margins Monitor contingent exposures, maturities, and facility availability Reconcile trade finance documentation and SWIFT communicationsData Integrity & Management Information
Ensure accuracy across core banking and risk systems Maintain facility and collateral databases with periodic reconciliation Produce MI and dashboards covering utilisation, concentration, and risk indicators Support internal and regulatory reportingControls & Audit Readiness
Execute key controls including reconciliations and approval checks Maintain documentation for audit and regulatory reviews Support control enhancements and remediation initiativesRisk Identification & Escalation
Identify early warning signals including covenant stress or documentation gaps Escalate concentration, country, and portfolio risks Support watchlist reporting with accurate exposure data
Candidate Requirements
Minimum 7 years’ experience in credit administration within a banking environment Strong experience in trade finance (essential) Solid understanding of lending operations, credit documentation, and collateral management Familiarity with regulatory expectations in a UK banking environment Strong Excel and data handling capability High attention to detail and strong organisational skills Ability to interpret complex documentation and risk data
