The role:  

This position will play a leading role in Meridian’s ongoing efforts to democratize the production of creative assets by identifying which assets are eligible for production outside the Creative Team, and will facilitate the creation and distribution of templates that can be optimized within the bounds and limitations of automated layout, and fall within brand standards.

Playing a key role in Meridian’s renewed commitment to Brand Governance, the Creative Services Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the integrity of the company's brand identity across all channels and touchpoints. This role will work closely with internal teams and external partners to inform and enforce brand guidelines, and support brand-related initiatives.

As part of the Marketing team, the Manager, Creative will report to the Director, Creative and Brand Strategy and will be a key player in shaping the visual identity for the brand across all Member-facing touch-points.

Key Responsibilities

Art Direction and Design Responsibilities

Art direction and design of Member and prospect-facing creative. Work closely with a writer partner, designer, and Creative Director (as needed). Engage in brainstorms and idea generation with creative team and scrum team members. Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute creative campaigns that support marketing and business goals. Present creative designs to internal marketing teams/stakeholders, and to SLT/ELT as appropriate. Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices, incorporating new ideas and technologies into the creative process.

 

Creative Democratization Responsibilities

Continue the development of established strategies to democratize access to creative tools, resources, and training across the organization. Work closely with various departments to understand their creative needs, anticipate future capacity challenges and develop solutions. Identify and integrate new technologies and platforms that support creative expansion and streamline creative workflows. Manage the implementation and use of AI technologies to enhance creative processes, streamline workflows, and empower employees to leverage AI for creative tasks. Act as a key stakeholder in workshops, training sessions, and collaborative projects to enhance creative skills and knowledge among employees.

Creative Management Responsibilities

Manage capacity and distribute work for the Brand scrum team. Track freelance/outsourcing budgets and retainers. Manage overall capacity of creative team, and act as Creative representative in Scrum of Scrums meetings. Use these learnings and insight to inform Creative Expansion Responsibilities.

Agile Team Responsibilities

Attend and be an active contributor/participant to Agile meetings (ceremonies) including Sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retros. Attend briefing meetings, status meetings and kick off meetings where scope and scale of projects are discussed. Attendance of quarterly all-team meetings, and photo and video shoots as required. Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

A portfolio of work that demonstrates a variety of creative skills and conceptual thinking Strong knowledge of design best practices for: motions graphics, layout, typography, hierarchy, colour, etc. Proficiency with creative software and tools. Comfort in rapidly learning new design tools with training. Proven experience in creative management, project management, or a related field. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Comfortable presenting creative and articulating artistic design choices to all level from peers to executives. Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software. Familiarity with Celtra a plus, but not required. Knowledge of AI tools and how to leverage them to drive efficiencies Familiarity with UX and accessibility Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment Experience building relationships with Marketing, and Advertising agencies, and Production companies Strong communication and presentation skills are essential to articulate ideas, solutions, and recommendations Ability to work in a collaborative, supportive way, accept and work with feedback

Salary Range: CAD $95,000 – $100,000 annually

Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role’s requirements may be placed higher within the range. Your recruiter will share more information about our total rewards package during the hiring process.

Office Location:  Toronto Corporate Office with the ability to travel to our St. Catharines office as needed. This is a hybrid work opportunity.

Meridian has a remote work policy that allows flexibility for employees to work remotely but also requires a minimum of one day per week in the office for purposeful meetings to collaborate, innovate and build effective relationships with your team, your colleagues and your leader which is important to us.
