The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) team is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express products and services through differentiated and innovative branding, marketing, and experiences. We are seeking a Creative Director, User Interface Design. 

 

At OnBrand, the Creative Director wears a lot of hats. You need to be a user experience expert, researcher, curious visionary, and a trusted team player all rolled into one. You will join a growing design team to develop innovative solutions that work across a variety of digital touchpoints. You will be the user advocate from concept to launch, understanding target audiences' needs, tasks, and goals and translating them into digital experiences. What you’ll be responsible for: 
 

Design complex landing pages across customer journeys (integrating with third party partners) using compliant accessibility practices and optimization through iterative testing Lead the creation, documentation and maintenance of reusable UI components, adapting enterprise capabilities for OnBrand needs Implement channel effectiveness measurement through sophisticated digital testing capabilities, improving performance and optimizing for future campaigns Build relationships across Enterprise Digital teams to enable seamless handoffs, improved customer experience and elevated design Transform ideas, business opportunities, research and creative vision into tangible assets that provide clear, usable, useful and desirable outcomes for users Participate in user discovery sessions, design thinking and journey/empathy mapping to understand user pain points Use analytical skills and strategic perspective to identify trends & recommend solutions that will help improve the user experience Provide the user experience perspective to American Express product partners Consult with Product Managers to determine their insight needs, make appropriate recommendations, and craft strategies that align with their product roadmap Help ideate and create innovative concepts that meet the business objectives and requirements while helping our customers achieve their goals Delivering future-thinking, customer-focused designs 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 
 
A successful candidate will have: 
 

5+ years of experience in User Experience, Interaction Design, or Product Management preferred 4+ management experience of small teams Proven experience leading, mentoring and upskilling junior designers A very strong understanding of the experience design workflow and an understanding of an agile, collaborative process and how to execute when the time comes Strong Visual design skills with ability to create graphics, illustrations and gifs that elevate the American Express Brand within the digital landscape Ability to prototype top of funnel immersive experiences utilizing motion, parallax and emerging experiential technologies Knowledge of different qualitative user experience methods and tools, e.g. usability testing, remote testing, and when to apply them Ability to draw on multiple inputs (reporting data, metrics, qualitative and quantitative insights, and stakeholder/business direction) to arrive at customer-focused recommendations Experience participating in workshops on topics such as design thinking, ideating & solutioning, rapid prototyping, and empathy/journey mapping Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment High degree of organization, individual initiative and personal accountability Experience in information design, interface design, flowcharting, storyboarding, human factors or human computer interaction and usability Ability to lead work throughout the project lifecycle, advocating for design best practices along the way  Knowledge/Technical Skills: Bachelor’s degree in a design related field preferred Have a current understanding of responsive design, mobile interfaces and content management systems Be well read in the masters: Krug, Morville/Rosenfeld, Cooper, Nielsen, etc. Have strong computer skills and firm grasp of Adobe Creative Suite, figma and prototyping tools. the Microsoft Office product suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Has been the design key contributor on several major enterprise-level web site projects, from start to finish Shows examples of user experience documentation on several major enterprise-level web site development efforts Experience creating style guides, pattern libraries, and other design solutions that drive design across large organizations Has a solid understanding of how to conduct research sessions, translate user needs into insights to influence product strategy Ability to effectively work with engineers to translate design ideas into comps that can be properly implemented.

Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually + bonus + benefits
