Creation Care Project Specialist

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The recruited Creation Care Agronomist will be responsible for the following:

Conduct a site analysis to identify soil and climatic conditions and propose suitable solutions. Supervising the purchase and installation of necessary equipment and materials. Ensure the production of seeds and seedlings according to quality standards. Training and supervising a local team in production techniques and nursery management. Writing periodic reports on the progress of activities and making recommendations to improve results. Providing a detailed work plan for the implementation of the tree nursery. Assist in hiring FCP-based staff to establish and care for the Tree Nursery. Assist in the selection of appropriate plant species based on the project objectives and local conditions. Assist in setting up the necessary infrastructure (greenhouses, irrigation systems, composting areas, etc.). Monitoring and evaluating the tree nursery to ensure its sustainability and effectiveness. Coordinate the distribution process of the seeds to each selected FCP.


This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive; additional tasks may be assigned to the agronomist as part of the project implementation.

DESIRED PROFILE

Considering the objectives of the "(Reforesting Haiti for a Sustainable Tomorrow Phase I & II) and the responsibilities outlined in these Terms of Reference, the ideal candidate for the agronomist role must meet the following qualifications:

Hold at least a university degree in agronomy and have completed at least one (1) training course in fields related to trash management, and provide proof of it Experience (at least 1 year) in the establishment and management of tree nurseries. In-depth knowledge of plant production techniques, particularly in tree nurseries. Excellent knowledge of irrigation, fertilization, and plant disease control techniques. Good communication and training skills. Ability to supervise a dynamic team. Have maintained a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, adhering to Christian values. Be in good standing with the tax authorities. Have never been subject to a criminal conviction. Be proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Ability to develop documents, to present, or to teach in Creole. Be able to communicate, read, and write in Creole and French. Have a strong sense of punctuality and regularity. Possess good communication skills, including the ability to convey knowledge in an articulate, methodical, and clear manner. Demonstrate initiative and creativity. Have the ability to work in a team. Be practical in implementing recommendations. Show diligence at work. Exhibit a strong sense of responsibility and leadership. Ability to drive a motorcycle on difficult roads.

OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES (WORKPLACE, WORK DURATION, ETC.)

As part of the implementation of the (Reforesting Haiti for a Sustainable Tomorrow Phase I & II) project, the operational guidelines are as follows:

The Creation Care Agronomist will be assigned to the Compassion regional office in Cap-Haitien, but based in the Northwest at the project’s targeted areas. The Creation Care Agronomist must assist the Creation Care Supervisor in the planning and monitoring of project activities. The duration of the Agronomist's work period, as part of the implementation of the (Reforesting Haiti for a Sustainable Tomorrow Phase I & II), is twelve (12) months, with renewal possibility from the hiring date. The Creation Care Agronomist must be available to interact and provide coaching via phone, email, or in person. He/she must be able to organize training sessions to strengthen the operational capacity of the Tree Nursery FCP staff.   The Creation Care Agronomist must demonstrate professionalism in the work carried out and adhere to all Christian values and those of Compassion International-Haiti. The Creation Care Agronomist must not, under any circumstances, claim ownership of the ideas, work, or documents prepared for the participants as part of the “(Reforesting Haiti for a Sustainable Tomorrow Phase I & II)” project.
