Courier- Evangelical Hospital- Day

General Summary

Provide courier / mail service to all designated departments of the Hospital and other Hospital clients. May be required to: collect, sort and distribute: US mail, lab specimens, inter-departmental mail, pharmaceuticals and other various documents. May be required to transport: specimens, mail, supplies, laundry, money bags, checks, bio-hazardous materials, x-ray films and miscellaneous reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Operate and maintain designated Hospital vehicleComplete and maintain scheduled rounds throughout the Hospital and designated external institutionsCollect and distribute: US mail, lab specimens, inter-departmental mail, pharmaceuticals, supplies, laundry, money bags, biohazardous materials, x-ray films and other various documentsTransport light to heavy objects using hand truck, cart or pallet jackComplete required reports, records and documentationEnsure the proper and safe handling of all bio-hazardous materialsMonitor and respond to pager and cell phone requestsProvide immediate transport of "Stat" specimens, supplies or pharmaceuticals when possible Inform and educate Hospital staff concerning postage ratesGenerate monthly postage reports as needed/Manage US Mail - post outgoing, sort and distribute incoming, Operate and maintain a large volume copy machine, Process volume copy jobsRequires use of computer applications such as hospital information systems, performance management software, education/training software, Microsoft Word, Excel, email and department specific software and web applicationsPerform similar or related duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. Required andPrevious driving experience RequiredCourier/driver experience Preferred

Driver's License Statement:

Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.

Courses and Training:

Must meet Department of Transportation physical requirements - physical exam every two years. Upon Hire Required
