**Job Description:**
The Country Manager role leads the commercial operations for the Cataract and Refractive businesses in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei. It is responsible for defining the organization’s long‑range strategic direction and ensuring the achievement of annual operating plans and objectives. The position establishes comprehensive business strategies and oversees the full spectrum of tactics required for successful execution.
This role proactively anticipates market trends and implements changes needed to meet evolving customer needs. It evaluates market data to determine and prioritize growth opportunities and drives business processes that ensure effective and efficient execution of key initiatives.
As a people leader, this role inspires, coaches, and develops the commercial team while ensuring that all activities are carried out in a legal, ethical, and fully compliant manner. The position builds and maintains strong relationships with distributors, healthcare decision-makers, government agencies, regulatory bodies, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and the wider community.
The leader applies and communicates J&J Credo values in all decisions, leads by example, and fosters a high-performing work environment focused on attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. The role also adheres to environmental policies and supports departmental environmental objectives.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Achieve growth and meet sales targets by effectively managing distributors and the direct sales team.
+ Design and implement a strategic sales plan that expands the company’s customer base and strengthens market presence.
**MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**
+ Set business direction and leverage local market opportunities.
+ Establish and execute a clear Long-Range Plan that ensures business continuity while balancing short‑term commitments.
+ Manage a multi-brand portfolio across both Cataract and Refractive segments.
+ Ensure inventory levels align with In-Market Sales performance.
+ Lead business excellence initiatives and develop a high‑performance organization.
+ Support and execute Marketing Initiatives in alignment with the Regional team.
+ Build the local KOL pipeline and support engagement plans aligned with SEA and APJ strategies.
+ Maintain market leadership in Government Accounts across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei.
+ Oversee distributor management to ensure product distribution, consignment processes, inventory levels, and margins meet all KPIs.
+ Ensure effective execution and follow‑through of business strategies.
+ Make sound resource allocation decisions.
+ Remain compliant within a dynamic and complex regulatory environment.
+ Influence internal and external stakeholders to deliver high‑quality services.
+ Attract, develop, inspire, and retain top talent.
+ Engage and motivate cross-functional teams around business strategies and direction.
+ Build a culture of growth mindset, resilience, and high accountability.
+ Manage pricing and reimbursement strategies.
