As Counsel, you will exercise independent judgment and discretion in performing substantive legal work as a licensed attorney. In this role, you will maintain positive client relationships, ensure strict confidentiality in all client matters, and work either independently or under the guidance of senior attorneys, depending on case needs. You may also supervise or manage other attorneys and paralegals within the department, providing direction and oversight as appropriate. Successful performance in this position requires the application of advanced, in-depth knowledge within your specific area of legal practice.
A caregiver in this role works remotely Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., based in Ohio or Florida.
This position requires occasional travel to Northeast Ohio, typically a few times per year.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Supervise or manage other attorneys or paralegals within the department as needed.
Maintain expertise in assigned subject matter areas, advise appropriate members of the department on legal developments impacting the attorney's areas of expertise and actively seek out opportunities to bring the organization into compliance within those areas of law.
Ensure timely responses are provided to requests for legal advice in the attorney's assigned areas.
Identify and proactively seek to implement measures to bring legal services to the organization in the most effective way possible.
Cooperate effectively and take leadership roles as requested on projects and teams within the Law Department and within the organization.
Relate professionally and effectively to people at all levels of the organization and utilize excellent problem-solving, writing and organizational skills.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Juris Doctor (JD) from ABA accredited law school
Five or more years of experience as a practicing attorney, including at least two years specifically in the area of practice
Strong understanding of the operation of a regulated industry
Member in good standing of the state bar or ability to become a member of the state bar within a reasonable period of time
Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion to perform legal services
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Experience with Florida medical malpractice defense, coordination of benefits, pharmacy benefits, subrogation, patient and payer disputes and Medicare/ALJ proceedings
Healthcare experience
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
Ability to operate a computer, audio visual and other office equipment.
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information, including the ability to deliver training in person and virtually.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
