Eaton’s corporate Legal team is seeking a Litigation Counsel to join the team. This position will be based at our corporate location in Beachwood, OH (Cleveland area). Relocation assistance is available.
We are seeking an exceptional strategist and communicator with deep civil litigation and trial experience who can hit the ground running with Eaton's dynamic Litigation team. This is a high-impact, hands-on role with frequent exposure to senior leadership and an unparalleled platform to drive continuous improvement across the enterprise. The ideal candidate is a courageous civil litigator with substantial trial and appellate experience, impeccable judgment, high EQ, exceptional communication and collaboration skills, and a commitment to excellence.
**What you’ll do:**
As Counsel, Litigation, you will play a critical role in protecting and advancing Eaton's interests and goals, which include helping to solve the world’s most urgent power management challenges and building a more sustainable society for people today and generations to come. Working closely with a team of talented internal and external partners, you will be responsible for analyzing, managing, and overseeing complex claims and litigation involving every division of the company. In addition to impeccable litigation judgment, the successful candidate will have exceptional communication and collaboration skills, including demonstrated ability to tailor advice to the experience and perspective of our stakeholders and to build momentum and alignment across a global, matrixed organization.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include investigating and evaluating pre-litigation and in-suit matters in collaboration with key partners across the enterprise; developing and driving litigation strategy across our global docket; proactively managing and directing outside counsel and legal vendors; drafting, reviewing, and revising case evaluations, requests for settlement authority, pleadings, discovery, motions, briefs, mediation statements, and trial/arbitration outlines; preparing witnesses for interviews, depositions, trial, and arbitration; and presenting to senior leaders regarding key matter updates, financial/budget metrics, strategic next steps, and lessons learned. Your appetite to develop a deep understanding of our products, services, and business priorities will be essential to providing effective counsel and applying a creative approach to dispute resolution. High emotional intelligence, exceptional courage, excellent presentation skills, and enthusiasm for driving lessons learned across the enterprise will be key to your success.

**Qualifications:**
**Basic Qualifications:**
• J.D. degree from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in at least one state in the United States
• Eligibility to practice in or register as in-house counsel in Ohio
• Minimum of seven years of civil litigation experience
• Minimum of four years of law firm experience
**Preferred Qualifications:**
• Minimum five years of trial experience
**Skills:**
• Experience evaluating and managing commercial, product liability, intellectual property, labor and employment, environmental, personal injury, securities, M&A, government investigations, and tax matters is required. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in arbitration, trial, alternative dispute resolution, and appellate, as well as the ability in the following areas:
• Strategic thinking, writing, and presenting;
• Proactive issue spotting and problem solving;
• Attention to detail, follow through, and execution; and
• Managing competing priorities and limited resources effectively and efficiently to drive results.
• In addition to advanced technical ability, the successful candidate will lead with courage, emotional intelligence, and accountability.
• Must be able to exercise sound legal judgment with minimal supervision, but also be eager to socialize strategy, seek feedback, and check blind spots with the team.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills are required.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $190,000 to $220,000 a year.
