Compensation: $23/hour increases based on experience
SSM Health Day Institute is seeking a COTA to work in our specialized outpatient rehabilitation program. We have ten centers across the St. Louis Metro area serving individuals recovering from a traumatic injury or illness who no longer require 24-hour nursing or acute rehabilitative care. COTAs perform patient-related tasks assigned by the therapist, including but not limited to:
Under the direct supervision of licensed OT, assists with the implementation of therapy plan of care in the Day Room SettingResponsible for delegation an direction of support personnel for those assigned patients, in order to enhance patient care services in the Day Room SettingParticipates in education of patients, families, coworkers, and selfPerforms other professional duties associated with the care of the patient, within the scope of practiceAssists patients to/from mats, wheelchairs, other equipment as appropriate; assist patients with transfer activitiesAssists with patient-related treatment activities as appropriateEngages with patients, supporting therapeutic goals in individual and group settings; Task initiation and group facilitationDocumentation and billing/charging of skilled activities as applicable Upgrading and downgrading tasks for patient engagementPlans and transports for Community Reintegration OutingsMaintains the clinic and clinic equipment in a clean and orderly conditionTransports patients to /from therapy as needed QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
Education: Associate's Degree in an OT Assistant program requiredCurrent and valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) requiredCardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificationCurrent State Driver’s License in good standing required: Acquisition of a Class E license allowing for the operation of the bus
