Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain detailed project cost estimates and budgets across all project phases (conceptual, FEED, execution)Analyze project costs and forecast expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and timelinesTrack and report on project financial performance, including cost trends, variances, and risk assessmentsReview and validate contractor cost proposals, change orders, and payment applicationsProvide input during contract negotiations and procurement to ensure cost-effective strategiesAssist in the preparation of project cash flow forecasts and cost phasing plansInterface with scheduling/planning teams to align cost and time data (earned value analysis)Support project controls reporting including monthly reports, KPIs, and progress metricsEnsure compliance with company financial procedures and project control standardsParticipate in value engineering, risk reviews, and cost optimization initiatives
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional work experience5–7+ years of experience in cost engineering for industrial construction (e.g., oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, heavy manufacturing)Strong knowledge of cost control systems and tools (e.g., Primavera, EcoSys, SAP, Ares Prism, Excel)Familiarity with project delivery methods such as EPC, Design-Build, and CM-at-RiskUnderstanding of construction contracts, labor productivity, and change managementCertification (or in pursuit) from AACEI (e.g., CCP, CCE) preferredKey CompetenciesAnalytical mindset with strong numerical accuracyExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsProactive problem-solving with attention to detailAbility to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentTravel RequirementsOccasional travel to project jobsites may be requiredExcited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed?
