Division/Site Specific InformationPosition will sit onsite at the Whitby, Canada, site and will support the Drug Product Division (DPD) at Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Discover Impactful Work:Capital Expenditure program owner providing site and project budget forecasting, tracking, reporting & documentation control for all Capital activities. Working with interdepartmental managers within Engineering, ensure goals, objectives and KPIs are met and consistent with the site’s and corporate engineering’s. Work with vendors as needed to ensure proper transactions are taken under timely manner. Initiate and develop cost-saving measures where opportunities exist within projects and/or department expenditures.
A Day in the Life:Complete oversight and ownership of ensuring CapEx AOP, budget, spend and forecast is accurate and up to date through timely reporting.
Working closely with other department managers/members within Engineering to allocate time and effort for proper data mining.
Hold standing meetings to develop routine and habits for timely review and interventions of project cash flows and apply appropriate measures to strategically pivot and continue to meet goals and objectives.
Develop and generate templates/tools to optimize output that brings more value to the team’s overall performance regarding CapEx monetary performance.
Capital Expenditure Administration
Manage and maintain capital expenditure budgeting, tracking, forecasting and reporting system by:
Maintaining and updating the CapEx tracking sheets for all Capital activities. Reporting on a monthly basis the current CapEx status & forecast for all capital activities to the Director of Engineering or delegate.
Assisting all users of the eCAR system and progress all Capital Appropriation Requests ensuring required documents and detail are included to support timely approvals. Facilitate I/O generation and close out.
Establishing and maintaining Capital Project Budget tracking tables for each active capital Project. Ensure reconciliation of Capital Project Budgets vs SAP. Facilitating proper and timely close-out of completed capital activities. Maintain repository for Capital Project Budget tracking tables for each active capital Internal Order number.
Executing CapEx spend/invoice investigations and clarifications.
Maintaining library of approved CARs.
Developing and maintaining the CapEx Control Process & Procedure.
Participating and or providing support for financial audits and ensure continual SOX audit readiness.
Overseeing and acting as back-up for Purchase Order (PO) creation and invoice processing for CapEx.
Cost Centre Administration
Maintain, analyze, and report Engineering cost centre budget activities on monthly basis for Engineering and Maintenance.
Oversee and act as back-up for PO creation and invoice processing for Cost Centres.
Oversee and act as back-up cheque requests as required.
Act as Engineering’s liaison with the site’s finance team to ensure best practices are applied to reflect most accurate information.
Communicate and coordinate with capital engineering corporate team for timely reporting and response to queries regarding CapEx AOP performance.
Select, develop, and evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Works with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures.
Promote a safe working environment, report potential hazards, and ensure all direct reports follow Environmental Health and Safety procedures.
Performs alternating or rotating shift work (as required)
Keys to Success:
EducationCollege Diploma at minimum required.
University Degree is preferred.
Education related to business or finance is preferred.
Experience3 years’ experience in financial management related to CapEx or the business within the industry required.
Experience with ERP applications associated with system reporting and/or updates to illustrate past and current statuses with the ability to forecast activities appropriately.
1 year of direct exposure to engineering operations and execution.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Detail oriented and a focus on accuracy.
Works well with limited supervision.
Strong financial acumen.
Intermediate Level Microsoft Office applications.
Proficiency with the English language.
Compensation
The salary range estimated for this position based in Canada is $69,400.00–$104,050.00.
