Job DescriptionThe Principal Cost Controller contributes to the sales, profitability and management of work and people. They provide leadership to professional and technical staff on complex, large scale projects that deliver high standard outcomes for AECOM.
Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
Develop and manage project cost estimates and budgets in collaboration with project managers and engineering teams.Analyze project scope and specifications to ensure accurate cost forecasting.Cost Monitoring and Reporting:
Monitor project costs against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and providing timely reports to stakeholders.Prepare regular cost reports, including Earned Value Analysis (EVA), to track financial performance.Change Management:
Evaluate and assess the financial impact of changes to project scope, providing recommendations for budget adjustments.Coordinate with project teams to ensure proper documentation and approval of change orders.Financial Analysis:
Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings throughout the project lifecycle.Collaborate with finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with company policies.Cost Control Processes:
Implement and maintain cost control processes and systems to ensure effective tracking and reporting of project expenditures.Develop and refine cost control methodologies and best practices.Stakeholder Engagement:
Liaise with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams, to facilitate effective communication regarding cost management.Participate in project meetings to provide updates on cost status and address any financial concerns.Mentorship and Leadership:
Provide guidance and support to junior cost controllers and project team members.Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and professional development.QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CCP, PMP, or equivalent) is a plus.Experience:
8+ years of experience in cost control or financial management within large engineering infrastructure construction projects.Proven experience in using cost control software and tools, such as SAP, Oracle, or similar systems.Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of construction and engineering cost principles, including cost estimation, budgeting, and financial analysis.Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively with diverse teams.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Certifications:
