Description We are looking for a skilled Cost Accounting Manager to oversee and enhance our cost accounting processes at two manufacturing plants in Vernon, California. This role is pivotal in providing detailed cost analysis, supporting operational efficiency, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with Operations and Finance teams to guide strategic decisions that improve profitability and streamline processes.
Responsibilities:
• Lead month-end and year-end closing activities for assigned cost accounting areas.
• Provide detailed reports and analysis on costs, spending, and variances to support operational decision-making.
• Manage all aspects of cost accounting, including standard cost roll, multi-level bills of materials, labor operations, and overhead absorption.
• Conduct general accounting tasks, such as journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities to enhance profitability through customer, product, and cost reporting initiatives.
• Assist in establishing and enforcing financial policies and procedures to guide decision-making.
• Oversee the valuation and execution of annual physical inventory processes.
• Collaborate with external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting during audits.
• Prepare quarterly pricing bids and contribute to the development of forecasts and budgets.
• Supervise and mentor two direct reports, fostering their growth and development. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent experience; manufacturing industry experience preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting, with strong knowledge in manufacturing cost analysis.
• Proficiency in using ERP systems such as Epicor, Oracle, or similar platforms.
• Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and other Office software.
• Proven ability to analyze financial data and drive process improvements.
• Experience in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Demonstrated managerial experience, with a focus on team leadership and development.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, alongside excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
