Requirements Summary: Member of the Accounting Team. The successful candidate will manage and maintain the cost accounting system and related inventory transactions. The candidate will successfully coordinate the annual physical inventory at the Rome and Mebane locations and assist bank auditors as necessary. They will participate in the month-end close process including journal entries, financial statement preparation and analysis of month end results. They will perform daily banking activities and prepare the weekly inventory reports. Finally, the candidate will provide back-up for the Sr. Accountant as required and other back-up duties as needed. Duties and Responsibilities: + Perform all month end cost/inventory entries + Reconcile the job order cost system to shop floor system on a monthly basis + Calculate and input manual transfers into the job order cost system. + Learn and understand all aspects of the metals inventory. + Coordinate and reconcile YE physical inventories at Rome and Mebane, prepare inventory adjustments and assist external auditors as required. + Prepare weekly inventory report. + Participate in the month-end closing process, prepare GL entries, prepare reports. + Prepare, analyze, and discuss budget to actual variance with cross-functional participants on a monthly basis. + Daily and month-end banking activities including related month-end entries. + Back up Senior Accountant as required especially at month end. Additional back-up duties as needed. Qualifications: Minimum:The successful individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are also desirable: · Solid knowledge of GAAP accounting · Knowledge of cost and inventory accounting in a manufacturing setting · Problem solving · Analytical Ability · Communication Skills · Interpersonal skills (ability to communicate basic accounting issues to all levels of organization) · Positive attitude and the ability to learn new things Office environment. May tour or be periodically exposed to an industrial environment.
