Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team in Snyder, Nebraska. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting financial operations, including cost analysis, inventory management, forecasting, and month-end closing procedures. This position reports directly to the Controller and offers the opportunity to contribute to strategic decision-making through accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain material, labor, freight, and overhead cost standards, while performing monthly variance analyses.
• Prepare financial performance reports and sales forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.
• Oversee inventory pricing and cost management, while conducting regular audits to ensure data accuracy.
• Reconcile monthly freight costs to ensure alignment between projections and actual payments.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable government tax regulations and reporting requirements.
• Prepare standard journal entries for month-end closing, complete variance analyses, and generate required financial reports.
• Collaborate with the sales team to support pricing negotiations and adjustments for customers.
• Participate in physical inventory counts, execute cost roll updates, and manage year-end inventory reporting.
• Assist in preparing annual budgets and monthly/quarterly forecasts, providing financial insights as needed.
• Support the cycle count program by ensuring completeness and accuracy, and resolve invoicing discrepancies through three-way match reconciliation. Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least three years of accounting or finance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects, solve problems, and implement process improvements effectively.
• Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, growth-oriented organization.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, including standard costing and variance analysis.
• Preferred: Background in supply chain accounting.
