Cost Accountant
Job Title: Cost AccountantJob Description Join a leading food technology company specializing in sustainable cultured meat as a Cost Accountant. You will serve as the subject matter expert on all things related to Cost Accounting and will be responsible for establishing and developing the company's cost accounting function. Responsibilities + Develop and maintain cost accounting systems by designing and implementing frameworks to accurately track and analyze various costs associated with production, operations, and services. + Perform cost analysis and reporting by examining expenses related to the supply chain, analyzing production costs, and comparing standard costs to actual expenditures to identify variances and areas for improvement. Generate regular reports for management on production costs, gross margins, and profitability analyses. + Engage in budgeting and cost control by assessing the cost of doing business, establishing budgets, managing expense ledgers, and recommending strategies for cost reduction and efficiency improvements. + Manage inventory by reviewing and documenting inventory and material purchases, and reconciling physical inventories with accounting records through cycle counts and audits. + Support internal controls and audits by documenting and monitoring internal controls to ensure compliance and financial security, assisting with regulatory filings, audits, and tax submissions. + Collaborate with other departments by working closely with managers from various departments, such as engineering and manufacturing, and senior leadership to gather data, discuss cost impacts, and recommend policy changes to improve financial performance. + Forecast and plan by predicting future purchasing costs based on fiscal needs and assisting with long-term cost planning. Essential Skills + 5+ years of Cost Accounting experience in the Food & Beverage or Biotech industry. + Experience in an FDA or USDA regulated environment is a significant advantage. + Proficiency in FIFO Cost Accounting. + Experience with Microsoft Business Central. + Advanced Excel skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Expertise in cost accounting, cost analysis, and variance analysis. + Familiarity with inventory management, cycle counting, and cost control analysis. + Knowledge of consumer products and consumer packaged goods. Work Environment The position involves working closely with various departments, including engineering and manufacturing, to enhance financial performance. Employees should be comfortable with a technology-driven environment, utilizing tools like Microsoft Business Central and advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Berkeley, California. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
