Cost Accountant
Description Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Cost Accountant to join our dynamic team at a growing manufacturing company. In this role, you’ll oversee all aspects of cost accounting for our organization and serve as a critical bridge between finance and operations. This position will work closely with manufacturing and supply chain partners as well as key internal stakeholders to ensure financial excellence and operational efficiency. You’ll focus on understanding production costs, identifying optimization opportunities, and driving savings. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing cost accounting processes to ensure accurate product cost valuations, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to strategic decision-making. This role requires an in-depth understanding of cost principles within manufacturing operations and offers the opportunity to work with industry-leading products. Key Responsibilities: + Cost Analysis: Monitor and analyze production costs, material costs, and overhead expenses to ensure accurate and consistent application of cost standards. + Inventory Management: Ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory; conduct regular inventory reconciliations and cycle counts. + Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to develop standard cost variance analyses, budgets, and forecasts. + Variance Reporting: Investigate and report on cost variances, including material usage, labor efficiency, and operational variances, providing actionable recommendations to management. + Process Improvement: Identify and implement cost and operational improvements for enhanced manufacturing efficiency and profitability. + ERP Systems Support: Maintain and update cost data within ERP systems, ensuring integrity and compliance with financial reporting standards. + Compliance and Audit: Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry-specific standards. + Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, operations, and procurement teams on cost-related initiatives, including new product costing, project evaluations, and transfer pricing. Requirements Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or other relevant certifications are a plus. + 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is required. + Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting. + Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar), advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with data visualization tools a plus. + Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. + Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
