Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to manage the complete cost buildup of products, including bill of material, labor, overhead, and any additional factors. This role involves developing, maintaining, and reviewing standard costs for products, analyzing actual manufacturing costs, and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to define quantitative and qualitative problems, collect data, interpret results, and draw valid conclusions.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and review standard costs for products.Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.Prepare weekly and month-end reporting of cost activity and inventory reconciliation to perpetual inventory.Review and reconcile GL accounts related to inventory, research discrepancies, and resolve variances.Prepare month-end journal entries related to inventory.Gather and evaluate data on cost changes, including quarterly pricing reviews across products, raw materials, and overhead.Perform month-end close activities related to Cost Accounting.Support the capital budgeting process by ensuring proposed projects are accurately budgeted and aligned with company policies and procedures.Record fixed asset additions, prepare fixed asset roll-forward, and record monthly depreciation expense.Reconcile Fixed Assets and Construction in Progress.Assist in quarterly reviews and year-end external audits.Other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.3+ years of experience in Cost Accounting.Proficiency in cost accounting, general ledger reconciliation, and variance analysis.Strong Excel skills, especially in advanced financial modeling and analytical techniques.Ability to function efficiently with minimal supervision.Close attention to detail.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in month-end close activities.Knowledge of fixed asset accounting.Ability to prepare financial statements and balance sheets.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $38.00/hr.
