Cost Accountant
Description We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our manufacturing team near Chicago Ridge, Illinois. This role is responsible for analyzing production and operational costs to ensure accurate financial reporting and support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining cost efficiency, preparing budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role will offer a salary between 90K-115K with benefits including health insurance, dental and vision insurance, 401k and paid time-off. Responsibilities: • Develop and manage standard costing systems for products and services to ensure accurate cost tracking. • Conduct periodic cost updates and analyze variances to identify discrepancies. • Collaborate with supply chain teams to address cost-related issues and provide actionable insights. • Perform inventory evaluations, cycle counts, and physical inventory analyses to maintain accuracy. • Support month-end closing processes by preparing journal entries and analyzing inventory roll forwards. • Partner with operational management to enhance cost controls and resolve unusual variances. • Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and profitability analyses to support organizational goals. • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. • Implement process improvements to identify cost-saving opportunities and enhance efficiency. • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies while maintaining accurate records. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data from multiple sources. • Solid understanding of cost modeling, budgeting, and forecasting techniques. • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple priorities.
