Cost Accountant
Description We are looking for a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team in the Brockway, Pennsylvania area. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and managing the financial costs associated with production processes to ensure optimal efficiency and profitability. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset and the ability to collaborate across departments to drive cost-saving initiatives. Responsibilities: • Conduct detailed analyses of product costs, including materials, labor, and overhead, to ensure accurate reporting. • Monitor and evaluate variances between actual and standard costs, providing actionable insights to management. • Prepare comprehensive financial reports related to margins, profitability, and cost efficiency. • Assist in the development and maintenance of annual budgets and financial forecasts. • Perform inventory audits to reconcile discrepancies and ensure accurate valuation of inventory assets. • Identify opportunities for process improvements within production and supply chain operations to optimize costs. • Collaborate with internal teams such as engineering, procurement, and plant management to integrate cost data into decision-making. • Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and support internal controls to safeguard financial assets. • Design and implement strategies for minimizing waste and improving operational efficiency. • Communicate key cost-related metrics and findings to stakeholders across various levels of the organization. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. • At least 1–3 years of cost accounting experience for entry-level roles; 5+ years for senior-level positions. • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, including Standard Costing and Activity-Based Costing. • Proficiency in ERP systems such as Epicor, Oracle, or similar platforms, along with advanced Excel skills. • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. • Ability to effectively communicate financial data to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Results-driven mindset with a focus on enhancing efficiency and profitability. • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
